Doing it without loosening the bolts can blow the bushings out too

 

If you are careful, is it possible to loosen the bolts and not blow your alignment?

 

I think if you mark all 4 discs you should be able to return it worst case. Might need some plastic dinner trays under the tires to allow wiggle.

There are variables to be considered. Not all upper arms articulate the same. Uniballs will rise higher than stock arms. I'm not sure how high SPC arms go up. Bump stops matter too. When I had stock bump stops I was hitting my very chopped up pinch weld often. Since changing to super bumps I don't think I have hit them, but haven't looked either. They are soft enough that I'm sure I can still hit.

All things considered, what works for one may not work for another unless you have identical model, parts, wheels, tire size, and similar enough tires. On the last mention, not all 285/75/16 (or what have you) have the same real outside diameter. You would think they would, but it isn't true.

I still think that if you can stuff a 33 with stock lower arms, you have good chances to stuff a 35 of the same width with Solo arms.

 

Fox 880-06-420 coilovers would be cool right now for the slight increase in adjustability over 25001-138EXT Kings. Obviously nothing to do with tire size.

Camber doesn't matter. The caster these lowers give is essentially a free benefit from moving the tire forward. The tire movement is a great game changer because the pinche pinch weld area on these trucks is so damn close to the tire when you turn and stuff. The added caster from it is sort of an unintended win for us since lifting by coilover tends to reduce caster.

These guys have been pushing the wheel forward for about 10 years for tire clearance. It was a unique move at the time. They also had a really slick pocket style lower shock mount for added strength and you could have your truck sit lower without losing uptravel.

Now that they have fixed the lower coil mount they would! You still may have to get creative with the reservoir mounts but thats the easy part.

The wheel angle changes as the suspension cycles. Changing ride height by coilover is really the same as cycling the suspension, you're just changing the point of the cycle that it rests at.

I highly recommend at least once that everybody with modified suspension lift their front end securely on stands. Then take your coilovers off, put your tires on, and cycle your suspension up and down to see what it does. Use a jack to lift it by the lower arm, its damn heavy. Turn your steering wheel about half way to lock, cycle uo and down again, turn full lock, cycle again. The best way to learn about your truck is to play with it.

 

Mark the bolts with paint pens.

I'm not promising anything. . Just sharing what I have learned or been told. @Casper421 may be able to say for sure at some point. But, pinch weld work at a minimum on 35's. And based on some feedback here, makes sense what they said about 05-06 DC.

 

I’m running 33s without a pinch weld mod or anything. Hell I still have front mud flaps (yes in the weird guy that likes how they look)

 

Solo said only trimming and cutting the fender. He didn’t mention anything about the pinch weld but like you said, that’s a given so I didn’t ask. I’ll know in 2 weeks.

I've been looking at tiresize.com a lot and I think the 285/75/17 is right for me. 33.8" T 11.2" W for a 7.5-9.5 wheel. Which looks like a skinny 33 to me. But it's about 1.5" taller that what I'm on.

 

Ive been on 285/75r17’s for 3 years. You won’t have a problem with the solo arms! Maybe a little pinch weld love!

I think the 35X12.50 could give me issues without spacers on my wheels. 285/75 seems to give me the best fit least work to get there.
