Just imagine the people with stock trucks who have nearly a 15% power loss, especially if you aren't geared. Sounds slow af

I just put a 200lb. Cap on my bed and I’m thinking it feels slower. Can’t imagine having that much extra rotating mass.

I didn't particularly care for that set up I was more interested in the vehicle performance before and after the mods.

It would be kind of cool if Toyota let you choose different gears if you build a tundra. Ford and dodge will let you do it but I don’t think Toyota does. Atleast have one other option would be nice, if you know you’ll go with larger tires

    yup.

I'll 2nd @snivilous on the Stock truck on big tires....normal driving must feel like you are towing a Mastercraft X26.

Pardon me for bringing this up in a Blower thread -
one of the more mathematically inclined hombre's around here could probably pull a MPG/efficiency loss from those figgers as well. If one were so inclined.

At one point the host takes it on a drive and claims he is getting 11.8MPG (7:25 mins) and in the comments he says he is getting 11.5 MPG hand calculated with the 529 regear.

so...a stock truck gets ~15? big tires get ~12? seems right, as has been hashed in 4,253 threads so far.

I wonder if his 11.8 is because the blower is into boost more than a stock truck just to get the unsprung weight moving. or, said differently, the driver simply having the ability to push the skinny pedal & make the truck move a LOT faster than stock.

Extended city driving gets me down to 14mpg.

now that I have a few 1000 miles on the stage 2....if I stay out of open loop/PE, my mileage* calculates very accurately on the scanguage II. However, once you open it up, it appears the larger injectors completely wreck the calculation algorithms. on-ramps & passing cars are quite enjoyable.

*the dash MPG is hosed...it says I get 27.5 mpg. and a full tank has a range of 715 miles. Hello Elon!

I have a theory on the MPG readout. I think the scangauge would ordinarily track mileage fairly accurately once you calibrate through the “fillup” procedure despite the larger injectors. I think the reason it becomes less accurate when you do more WOT is because our Harrop setups are using boost referenced fuel pressure regulators. Out of boost it maintains a pretty steady 43ish PSI, but under boost it jumps up to more like 50. That is something the computer can’t really measure and it still thinks we are running at a constant 43psi, and therefore skews fuel flow rate and MPG readout.

That's almost my identical install minus the RCF throttle body. I wonder if I should have done that.

    @Saltyhero13

same here. <still eyeballing the 4.5")

I am intrigued. Ya think this would get you ~500-510whp? @nags - what did you dyno at?

if you can get an extra 1 psi & "safely stay on A MAF map" I'm all over it.

I see that's the TB for the 5.0L....sexy.

    Giddy up, Salty.

top speed, sure. It's a $1mm out of production ride.

but it takes the WHOLE DAMN TRACK for it to catch up.

    bad driver or not.

see, in a plaid, my wife could do a 9.3 1/4 mile. (918 does 9.8 WITH A GOOD DRIVER) Plaid doesn't need a "good" driver. that's how the world is changing.

I don't like this fact any more than you do. The world is changing.

Still in the process of tuning it. I keep getting a misfire on cylinder 1 at WOT runs up around 100mph so that's put a kink in things. It hasn't been on a dyno at all.

ah, I see now. my fault.

that's an older P100D not a Plaid. HUGE difference.

my vid shows you the difference a Plaid makes.

Hopefully that helps cause so far nothing else has. Ruled out plugs and coils so far. ProSpeed had us re-gap the plugs as well. No luck. Another installer suggested maybe an issue with the cat. Will be checking that today.

I think I would tear my Tundra up if I raced it 21 times.

this dude drives his plaid home after whooping ass all night.

    _____

dunno about low battery stuff. this dude races a bunch times in one night. 1/8th mile 6.05sec 120mph!

I am not a tuner...as all could tell you. but the sticking point with my truck was the injectors (DW650's). they spent all day on the dyno fiddling with them. are those ruled out via a good tune?

The injectors are brand new with the ProSpeed Fuel system and we're about 8 revisions in to tuning with ProSpeed, so all I can say is ..... I assume so?
