Ah, with the wheels off, does one hub spin more freely than the other? Sorry, can't tell if you've already tried, but me thinks this would help diagnose too.

Id be suspect of the brakes. But mainly because when i got my truck the brakes were dragging. Wasn’t the caliper, but the MC, because both brakes drug evenly.

I’m assuming if I did, then that would be from a sloppy bearing. That’s usually what happens when bearings go bad right? Question is; what would cause the bearing to tighten up?

Yep, try spinning the rotors/ hub with the calipers off too and see if that makes a difference.

if its sat for a while the grease could be dry. When you get the rotors off give the hubs a couple whacks with a hammer and see if it frees up?

They both drag a little more than I’d expect them to but not sure in comparison.

Mine definitely don’t spin freely like a skate board wheel or anything like you’d expect really. Your pads will always have a slight drag on the rotor.

Yep that’s the plan for tomorrow. Remove both fronts, pull the calipers, and see what’s what. I just really don’t like the 11-12 mpg on the freeway with current gas prices.

The hub bearings are roller bearings I think. They can't really "tighten" up. The rollers could seize up maybe, but I think you would start hearing noise and the bearing would fail.

Yeah I get that. It’s impossible to explain in text how hard I’m spinning them but to me the drag seems excessive. Once the brake are removed, it should spin like a lot right? I know it still won’t be like a skateboard wheel but… you know

I work from home office nowdays so put so few miles itll be a while before I fuel up (especially at these prices im still on the $3.20 stuff). When I do ill post up but I cant imagine it wont be better just based on what im feeling I e had to input on the pedal compared to what it was. But again i was at 200k miles and my plugs were not looking that great either so a major maintance if nothing else so im sure it didnt hurt the MPG

whatevers broke. MC wasnt difficult, but i was lucky that i had time to diagnose it over a couple days, and didnt fire a parts cannon at it.

Yup, I would diagnose with the calipers off before ordering bearings etc. When doing MC work on my truck I had issues which led to the calipers sticking.

If it's the master cylinder, changing it out isn't bad at all. Hardest part is bleeding the MC properly, then bleeding the rest of the truck. A couple hours tops.

For the bearings, believe you'll have to take the spindles off to press them correctly, not sure if that's the case for 2WD though. Taking out the spindles is a bit more time consuming but not too bad. If you don't have a press, you can pay a machine shop press them. A little bit more involved then changing the MC but could be done in a day too.

I want to say @Darkness has a good write up on the bearings in his build thread - his truck is 2WD.

Steering wheel was canted to the right a few degrees when driving straight. I loosened the steering shaft pinch collar and rotated it one tooth.

Make a witness mark on the steering rack side first. It's easier to slide the collar up towards the wheel once you remove the bolts and tap a flat blade screw driver in to spread the collar. I managed to do all the adjusting through the driver's side wheel well.

Not required. I cut this stuff into 4x12" and 6x12" strips and laid it over the header tubes where I could. It's a 1/2" thick high temp fiberglass insulation with aluminum cover. Not a full 360* all around tube wrap. I will say though stainless zip ties fucking suck.

I managed to accomplish a few things this weekend. I started with playing around with vinyl wrap and attempted covering the lower chrome piece on the bumper. I was hoping it would match the gunmetal on my wheels, but not quite right. For my first attempt "wrapping", it looks okay from 10 feet away and the sun in your eyes.

Then I went about replacing my fuel pressure regulator and damper. I thought I would replace the intake plenum gaskets and clean out the carbon buildup in the intake with some cleaner. Weird though, there was quite a bit of oil pooled up in the plenum. Is that normal? It seems really out of place. What could cause that?

I also decided to clean out the rats nest that had accumulated in there (damn cottonwood trees) and tried to clean out some of that buildup too.
