I had a white 2013 4runner that had an issue with something called "rail dust". RD is hot powdery steel generated from railroad car wheel wear that embeds itself onto paint when shipped by rail. This results in tiny rust spots that can become larger rust spots if left untreated. Obviously, this is especially notable on white vehicles. The dealer had to treat the car 3 times (There's a special acid based wash for this) and ended up repainting the tailgate, all under warranty. I don't know that this is a problem specific to Toyotas, but a lot of them seem to have had the problem.

White Toyota paint has been a problem for a long time. My 17 Tacoma had peeling paint on the fenders and rear door pillars. Do a quick search on TW and you will see.

Can confirm that Super White is of poorer quality in comparison to the Windchill Pearl. Have a 12 Corolla in SW and a 12 Sienna in WCP. The super white has the issues with yellowing and flaking off that current 3rd gen Tacoma owners complain of. The WCP is immaculate in comparison. I will never buy another vehicle in the SW color again if possible.

It can also be caused by certain types of brake pads, a product called iron x does wonders on the little rust spots. The spots can really only be seen on white and silver paint.

Saw this one posted elsewhere, just a heads up to the gen3 guys
Is anyone keeping track of ALL theScreenshot_20220327-111859_Samsung Internet.jpg known issues with the gen3?....just wondering if it's out of the "shitload" category and now reached the "shitton" category?

The funny thing is I haven't spent anytime looking for anything negative to post about the 2022 Tundra, but everyday other people who own the 2022 Tundra are posting and I'm just passing the information along (for the members here that are interested in knowing)...I'm a Hugh fan of the 2022 Tundra, but my heads not in the sand like some are and trying to deny these issues don't exist...as soon as we start seeing a track record of diminished issues and when the overpriced market normalizes I will be purchasing newer Tundra...hopefully by the time my 2021 Tundra is warned out most of the issues are rectified!!

I’ve been looking at the 3rd gen off and on, and normally I’m a ymmv kinda guy, as I currently drive a Ram with zero issues and my wife has had 2 BMWs in a row with zero issues (and neither Ram nor BMW have great reputations); however, I may have finally found a vehicle I’d be scared to roll the dice on just yet. I think this truck needs another year of early adopters to help Toyota identify all the different issues before I’d be willing to chance it.

It’s too bad, I’m really digging the 1794 TRD off road in MGM over Saddle Brown, with the (soon to be released) TRD lift kit.

People with the negative experiences are usually the loudest. I believe that’s why we see so much on this forum. However the forum is doing exactly what it’s intention is. When I got my 2.5 gen I came here to see if there was anything I need to worry about. I got my 3rd gen and I’m still here seeing other peoples issues. Glad I have no real issues of my own but this forum can be helpful for sure. I think a lot of people are here for the same reasons.

I reached out to this gent because i love his Baja Designs set up. Pretty sick! Sorry for blasting his truck on here. I just love the ingenuity. Not sure of his specs, but it's a beast.

guess Im in the minority but I just think 37s look kinda lame, just way too stuffed in there and like its riding on huge marshmallows or something. but thats just my worthless .02.

looks like if the suspension fully articulated it would tear out all the fenders, etc.

hydromounts.jpg Saw a black platinum SB at the dealer today - very nice! Already sold. wanted to test drive, but they didn't have any I could drive. Dealer made a statement that I wanted to ask those here - said "limited and up all have hydraulic mount for cab "

Update: - went back to the interview TFL trucks did with Jay Sackett- with the stripped down frame details - but they did mention something about cab mounts ... interesting. at 10:50 or so - Hydra-mounts(?) I think he called them. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8yyiO4zOKdY . Normal mount are just rubber mounts.

Also, I asked if you can get a 1794 with TRD OR and the powered running boards and he couldn't, and didn't know if it's functionally not compatible. ? Anyone know?

Nice. I couldn't find anymore pics. But just noticed from your pics. It's a not a TRD sport. Thought it was cause paint matched fender and mustache. Look like it's a limited with trd offroad package and he had it paint matched. Look kinda like my TRD sport with everything paint matched. Lol.

-10 offset sticks really far out. I ordered my Rays Gramlight wheel in +20, which I think is perfect amount of poke.

Seeing his truck, white on bronze wheels. Makes me excited and want my wheels already.

Not sure if there is where I should post this. Anyone else noticing their fuel gauge being off? I went to get gas this morning and ended up putting 14 gallons of gas in. I like to top of to start my week. My gauge on the dash said I had between 3/4 and full remaining in the tank. I could be wrong but that doesn't seem to add up right. I think the float in the tank could be sticking. Only have 1100 miles on the truck.

It's a feature that Toyota added to the Tundra to make them seem more fuel efficient.

quite random, but: Does anyone besides me want to see 42"s get stuffed into a long travel 3rd gen with fiberglass fenders? If they can put 40s on a Tacoma, they can put 42s on a Tundra. Plus, the 3rd gen has more choppable "fender space" than the 2.5 gen. No, just me?
