It's the Undercover Armorflex. I was initially wanting this one and have stayed in touch with my local dealer as well as occasionally calling Undercover directly. They have both told me "available in about 30 days" in Dec, Jan, Feb, and again last week, lol. I gave up and ordered the Extang Exceed. Initially, I wasn't any better off as they stated 40-45 days for delivery. I bit the bullet and ordered one this past Monday and got a tracking number showing delivery this Friday!

Has anyone pulled the trigger on a Diamondback SE or HD for their tundras? I asked diamondback if they had any photos of fitment on the tundra and they didn’t.

I don't think they've started shipping yet, have they? Last I heard (on the forum) D-back was 6-8 weeks from shipping and I don't think I read that post more than a couple of weeks ago.

I have a '22 Plat with 5.5' bed. Looking for pics of OEM hard cover open. How does it sit when up against cab and does it cover camera and light?
Considering an X4S as well so if any installed yet share pics of that as well. Heck, if you have any covers installed and haven't posted details/pics yet please do so. Would be very helpful with limited info out there for '22s.

There's quite a few pics of the tri-fold cover open (& closed) on the forum. I have it on my truck, but only have pics of it closed. The aftermarket BakFlip MX4 is the exact same design as the OEM tri-fold...just in case that's on your consideration list as well.

Regarding how it sits against the cab: When folded up, there are 3 dense "sponge" blocks that are installed on the the underside of the cover and they rest against the cab when it's opened fully. They prevent the cab from getting damaged. I've had it opened several times for large loads going down the highway at 70mph and they work well.

Regarding covering the camera: The cover does not cover the camera or the 3rd brake light when fully opened. It sits several inches below the 3rd brake light assembly and does not interfere with the viewing.

Thanks for the pics! Does the OEM cover utilize/clamp onto the factory rails, or does it have a little adapter (I think BakFlip does this) that uses the same hole as the factory rails, but drops the factory rails so that they can be used in their entirety?

It’s the latter…little brackets that drop the factory rail slightly below so that it can be used in its entirety.
…works the same way that the Bakflip does (same basic design)

BakFlip MX4 and the OEM tri-fold cover are 100% the exact same. The only difference is the branding on the outside. BakFlip MX4 & the OEM cover are made by different sides of the same company (REV Group). See this link for the deeper explaination: https://www.tundras.com/threads/bakflip-mx4-on-the-2022-tundra.100593/#post-2662012

Regarding the mounting, here are the instructions that show you how the OEM cover makes use of the existing holes. They use a little adapter to "drop" the OEM rails down a few inches. The design from REV Group for that adapter is slightly different for 2022. That's why BakFlip covers from previous generations don't mount to the 2022 bed without some modification: https://www.tundras.com/threads/oem-bed-cover-install-instructions-downloadable.100722/#post-2664578

    Hope that helps!

How's the gap at the tailgate with that cover? I know they will all have a gap, but the one with my Extang cover seems excessive.

Other thing I'm not crazy about is it's tri-fold but covers the rear camera.

Not sure who told you that, but the OEM cover definitely does not cover the rear camera.

    Hey All,

New to the forum so apologies if I'm butting in, but wanted to share that Diamondback has confirmed fitment for the 22s and are shipping at least some of their lineup so far. I worked with them directly and believe I have one of the first 5.5ft HD covers in the wild. Really happy with it so far. Still need to figure out the cleanest way to better seal each corner (gaps in bed design, not issue with cover design).

    First off...Welcome to the forum!

Second...looks awesome. D-backs are overkill for me, but I love the look of them. If I was a contractor, I would 100% go with them. I've seen a few up close and I'm really impressed with their quality.

That looks sharp! I'll be going with a SE but probably not until this summer though. My truck isn't going to be here until the end of May.

My Platinum comes in on the 30th and I'm about to pull the trigger on the HD. Can you elaborate on what what gaps on the bed need to be addressed?

At the cab end, there are some small gaps at the corners. DB includes weather stripping and tape to use as needed. They aren't too bad and might vary depending on your install. To me, the tailgate has worse gaps. I put a light inside the bed and closed everything up. There are significant gaps on both sides of the tailgate. I'm not looking at it right now, but from memory there are probably 1/4" gaps that extend from the top of the tailgate about 6" down. I think some additional weather stripping will address the worst of it, but was a little disappointed to see so much light coming through.

Edit: to be clear, this is a Toyota issue, not an issue with the cover.

Completely agree on the overkill. I didn't necessarily need something that heavy duty either, but I've had my eye on their products for years and finally pulled the trigger with my new tundra. I just like knowing that I can put the entire payload of the truck on top of the cover should I ever need to. Plus, I work in a not so great area, so the high quality materials and robust locks give extra peace of mind.

I have been spending waaayyyyyyyy too much time researching tonneau covers and my thumb was literally hovering over the “submit order” for the HD with cross bin 8 but decided to hold off to research a bit more lol.

min my research travels, one thing that I have heard of people doing is hanging (on the inside)/placing (on the cover) kettle balls or something substantial on those corners and then doing some locking adjustments internally to close the gap down. Some also did a bead of RTV to further close gaps.

Of course you will also need to put weather stripping on between the bed and tailgate as that is the biggest offender.
Hope this helps in some way.

Thank you so much for sharing, I now know what I'm up against and it won't deter my purchase

I kind of wanted the tool box version but the rep said they weren't going to be available on the '22 Tundra for a couple of months

Are you referring to the bak box? I wanted a cross bin from diamondback if I went that route, but the foldable box from bakflip (which as mentioned by someone else that bakflip and rev (that makes the Toyota branded tonneau) are the same company, so it should fit when they make one for the tundra. Looks pretty sweet.
