Hey Roman. Good to have you back.
Can I buy oem ball joints only - separate from the control arms? My research tells me no, but want to verify. ‘16 Tundra. Thanks!

Edit: UCA & LCA bushings as well. Separate or only with the arms?

I know you’re gonna say no. Feel free to surprise me.

Hey @Roman don't believe you've answered this anywhere, but sorry if you have. Since adding the AJT black steering wheel trim, these silver volume buttons have driven me crazy. Is there a remedy for this that I can purchase?

That’s the only thing that’s kept me from blacking out the steering wheel

Pretty sure the 4Runner steering wheels have black buttons/trim, but I could be wrong.

I vaguely recall seeing that. if memory serves, it was a couple hundred. Not worth it just for a color.

Roman… p/n for black ac vent or vent rings? Can are all 4 the same p/n or different? Don’t want to buy the black dash bezel around the radio if I don’t have to.
    Thanks

If you're pulling them, just paint them. I did mine three years ago and they still look factory.

Good lord, those are expensive lol. I think I might just try to figure out how to paint them. I wouldn’t mind some overlays but they look “blocky” and I just want a smooth finish. I assume people are using a sem trim paint? Do I need to clear them after if I paint or just the trim paint? Sorry for all the questions but I’ve never done it and want it to last. That’s why I thought about using oem.
    Thanks

I had a coworker print me a set of the 3d printer vent covers, that just snap right over. The top left (black) is the ring off his printer, the top right (royal blue) was a quick sand and paint but looked cheap, the bottom was the finished product and I don't think it looks blocky at all. I sanded the rings down some, used fill primer and then sanded again (this let it get the smooth look and filled the printer lines) and then I used color matched paint followed by clear. I've been thrilled with then. Been about a year and no issues. Multple threads on doing it this way. So I'd do some searching if you don't want to go OEM.

I painted mine. I tore the entire dash apart to get to those and the giant silver trim around the HU/AC controls (there's a black part for that, too). There are at least a couple of threads and YouTube vids on how to get that done, where to start, etc. None of it is that difficult, but it is a bit time consuming. I used high-grit sandpaper to rought the surface of the vent rings, to give the paint a better chance at holding. That method did not work perfectly for high traffic parts like the start button or cup holder, as both have had some scratches since; although I didn't follow up the paint with any matte clear as a top coat. Vent rings turned out perfect, though, and are still in perfect shape. SEM Trim Black is the paint I used; and I applied it extremely thinly in 4 or 5 coats.

There is a remedy, but it requires purchasing new switches. They come in a set for both sides of the steering wheel.

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/black-steering-wheel-switches.61209/

    Yep, that's the one.

Hello @Roman, "new" owner of a '14 Platinum Sequoia. I'm look to do some Chrome Deletes and I am getting overwhelmed by the information; so I apologize if you have already addressed this 1,000's of times. I've already purchased and installed black mirror caps. Next I want to address the exterior door handles and front grill. Can the door handles for the Tundra CrewMax be used for a '14 Sequoia?

Regarding the front grill, my Platinum has the "laser radar sensor" and therefore there is a cutout in the front grill for the sensor. Is there any opportunity to buy a new, black grill to replace it and still have the cutout for the sensor? At the very least I was thinking of replacing the chrome surround for the front grill. Is this possible for a 2nd gen Sequoia?

Thanks in advance for your support!

Yes, the door handles can be used on the Sequoia as well. They are actually Sequoia door handles anyway, I just figured out they also work on the Tundra. :D

We're talking about the upper grille with the Toyota emblem in it, correct? The reason I ask is because the laser radar cruise control sensor shows to be down in the bumper on those.

    Thanks for the quick response.

Yes, you are correct. In my confusion I was thinking that the sensor was in the upper grill part (with the Toyota emblem). Ours is black and so it all ran together in my mind. Sorry about that.

So now with that resolved, what is your recommendation for doing a chrome delete of the front grill? Is there a specific part number that I should look for that will work? Will the "TRD Pro grilles (2014-17 models only)" that you mentioned on the first page work with a 14 Sequoia Platinum?

    Thanks again!

    No problem.

You could go with the Sport grille from the Sequoia in those years. Thing is, they were only available in white, silver, or black. If your Sequoia id a different color, you would need to get it painted.

@Roman just wanted to say thanks for your help. I'm the gentleman who recently spoke with you on the phone to order the front valance and the lower retaining clips for a 2015 1794 Tundra. You were a life saver helping to find those clips, since they were listed with the skid plate, and not with the valance.
