Bled the brakes and added diff oil. First break in run with the 4.88 gears. 20 minutes, maybe 6-8 miles. All grandma style and for the most part under 40MPH. Gears are quiet so far. The diff housing was too hot to comfortably hold a hand on it when I parked. Take your new gear break in seriously...

    No leak.

Finally put some real tires on. They were awesome in the snow in VT this weekend compared to my old Goodyear wranglers.

Changed the oil and filter as well as a new air filter. Full synthetic oil and OEM oil filter. Also cleaned the Maf sensor with some CRC spray. Gave the interior a vacuum and quick wipe down.

Or is that a flex shot? Maybe I misread the terrain.

If you lifted to high? Or is it lowering it in a way I’m not thinking?

Ya i believe most people run them when the lift is higher than desired, you could add it to a stock truck to reduce rake and level the truck but most people will lift the front to level it out.

They do two things. Lower leaf spring lift height, and because they are longer, smooth out 1st gen leaf springs.

The OEM filter for the 4.7 is the 90915-yzzd3. Most parts stores dont carry the longer filter they sell the 90915-yzzd1 sized filter which I know was used on the Tacomas. That's one small reason I'll only run OEM filters on tundras because that's about the only way to get the "longer" filter. Do people run the smaller one and get by all day long though? Yeah and their stuff is probably just fine too. Just piece of mind I suppose.

I want to say that I've seen on here that there is an even larger Mobil1 filter that is compatible with our trucks which boosts the oil capacity to seven quarts.

With that being said, I just stick with the YZZD3 filter from the dealer.

FYI, I've also seen Walmart stock Toyota OEM oil filters. Good for those hours and days when the parts dept is closed and you need to grab an oil filter.

I filled up the truck over the weekend.
    $3.599/gal for 87 octane
    $83.xx to fill it up.

If gas prices don't chill TF out soon, I'm going to have to look into alternate means of transport. (250/300 miles a week just to get to/from work)

Given recent conflict, and the tendency for the fossil fuel industry to stuff a cactus in our ass anytime conflict kicks off, I've seen esimates we may be as high as $5/gal in areas it's currently $3.50/gal right now. They really wanna be Putin it in our butts. Of course, gas prices will skyrocket immediately without real-world justification, then take forever to taper down.

Yeah, my wife's Audi gets ~28mpg and she works from home. In the short term, I can drive that a few days a week to offset the 14.2mpg I've been getting with the truck lately.
I'm hoping the 911 with its new induction and new EFI will get up into those mid-to-upper 20s. But 70s sports cars aren't known for being fuel sippers.
May have to explore a shitty small car or a decent motorcycle for commuting.
I made good progress on the new EFI yesterday, so I'm hoping to have it fully sorted by April. I'll know better what kind of economy I can squeeze out of it then.

I haven’t seen $3.59/gal in years! Unless I head into Reno.
