Swapping inverter would be easy, but all wiring would have to upsized too though. Not going to be economical. Plus you would probably want to upgrade the alternator too.

Impossible with stock hybrid setup. Has to be factory.

I don't know what alternator is in the '22. Toyota likes 130A alternators max in their trucks (150A Sequoia), so max IMO is a 600W aftermarket inverter as the sweet spot. Go beyond that and you'll need a higher output alternator, the Big Three upgrade.

High wattage should be done at the factory as an optional package. The wiring has to be stouter to handle the amperage, stouter fuses. We'll see if Toyota steps up to the plate.

My previous post referred to the non-hybrid and the reason Toyota chose 400watt. There is a reason
My experience deals with boats like many here.
In which case you have multiple batteries on board. One to start your boat - the regular 12 volt starting battery - that you can't have run down.
When you run down your car battery a couple times, lets say someone leaves an interior dome light on.
its game over on its lifespan. Ask me how I know.
So you add in a boat ....one or more deep cycle batteries. One/s that can be drained and recharged many times.
    for your needs.
But that is on a boat. This is on a vehicle that has become more complicated than anything I have ever seen.
Only a factory solution else you are voiding warranties.
Its throwing codes now - Imagine someone adding a DIY inverter solution.

Volume. R&D budget can be bigger and profit margin smaller when you sell 10 times as many trucks

Yea. I don’t think it’s a big deal. I’d probably do it myself. If I buy the Tundra maybe I’ll throw my phone in my boat so I can charge it.

I guess a lot of high voltage cabling and sophisticated control module. And liquid coolant lines for the hybrid battery. https://youtu.be/S1t0Au_z9zA

I’m going to test drive a powerboost f-150 today at 1pm

I’ll throw a few comments after that .

I’m wondering why ford can have trucks on the lot and Toyota can’t . I really wanted to test drive a tundra too but you can’t find one anywhere here and I’m in a huge market

they are under msrp as well

unfortunate you cant drive a Tundra.
interested in your comments. especially on turning circle dynamics.
your 2.5 gen Tundra handles supposedly from comments sporty in comparison.
I hear Ford also pipes in engine noise ?
How does it compare to the Borla ? 8^0

Ya blows you can’t even look at a tundra , kinda lame

each dealer should have one for test drives then order or allocate from there , but no dice

Please let us know what you think. A year ago the F150 was nowhere on my radar. With the Tundra rollout I have been looking.

exactly me too, I had the AT4 refresh and the tundra only on my radar but the rollout and numerous qc issues has given me pause

the more I’ve looked into the ford the more I’ve liked it, especially with that black appearance package coming out

Toyota is really starting to piss me off. They just called and said I have to drive in and talk to a specialist just to be put on a waitlist to test drive , lol

I said I understand but can’t you just take my name over the phone? I have to drive over there to be put on a test drive list? I said no thanks , you take care

If you get the Ford you'll get present day technology, and not piano black inserts (hot in 2014), rear set hump with nearly no usable rear floor space due to that dumb partition, no tow hooks, not as perfected twin turbo set up compared to ecoboost, large grilles that aren't in style anymore, and the list goes on.

new tundra imo is just an overgrown tacoma with no originality, or positive notes.

Not trying to be snarky, but why did you buy one or have one one the way if you dislike that much of it?

I drove one of my employees new PowerBoost Lariat FX4 yesterday. My personal truck is a 2018 Platinum Tundra w/ Pro shocks, and work truck is a 2021 Ram Etorque for reference. Couple thoughts….

    - Motor is VERY powerful, and effortlessly gets you moving much faster than you think you are going. The 10 speed shifts extremely smooth, and works seamlessly with the motor. Very impressive. He had roughly 700 miles on it, and the dash was reading 17.9mpg. He drives it solely in Sport Mode.

Makes the power train of the Ram feel a tad bit dated, and a very noticeable gap in torque. Compared to the Tundra, it feels from the Stone Age, and an even bigger gap in torque and felt power.

    - Ride quality was somewhat disappointing. Felt very springy / pogo stick’ish at slow speeds on any kind of uneven terrain. Not exactly confident feeling. A bit better at highway speed (but all rigs are). Turning radius felt very tight.

The ride is MUCH better in the Ram in all conditions. Continually impressed with how well the RAM drives. I prefer the ride of my Tundra with Pro suspension much more as well.

    - Interior is massive feeling and the new interior is light years better than the previous generation. Buttons EVERYWHERE. The fully digital instrument cluster is very nice, and the large center screen is well laid out. Finishes are good looking, and felt solid. Panoramic sunroof was very nice with how much bigger it makes the interior feel. However it’s exposed tracks look a bit unfinished. Fold flat rear floor and locking cargo is very handy. Interior was extremely quiet while driving as well. Still has an old school antenna on the hood, which looks silly to me.

My Ram is just a BigHorn, so can’t really compare it to a Lariat. F150 interior does feel larger. Lol, won’t even try to compare my second Gen Tundra interior.

All in all I was impressed with the truck, and especially with how much better it feels than the previous Gen. Still don’t think I’d get one over a new Ram however. Which basically feels like if you took a 2nd Gen Tundra, gave it a super nice 8zf transmission, coil rear, updated interior, and slightly more powerful motor.

Demand and interest in relation to supply is higher for Tundras than F150s. :notsure:

The dealer making you physically show up to book a test drive supports this. I would’ve responded in the same way as you, but this just goes to show that the apparent issues aren’t slowing down demand much if at all.

one in the same imo , but I get it

I called another one and they have a crewmax that’s only for test drives but they won’t let me take it today since I want to see if it fits in the garage. They also said we can’t order one either .

so I guess I have to see if I can take it home during the week the guy said
