Not sure, most piggy back units don’t though, they intercept info going to the engine or from the engine to the ECU, and fool the ECU into thinking everything is normal while telling the engine to operate differently than stock.

Kind of a dumbed down explanation but more or less how they work.

I kind of found the answer. It does not flash the ECU. It uses the vehicles existing mapping. here is a better explanation
"The JB4 is a programmable computer that attaches between the ECU and vehicle sensors allowing it to adjust your vehicle’s tuning by tapping into areas of the factory flash mapping that are not normally available. Unlike other similar-looking tuning systems the JB4 is also able to tap in to CANbus - analogous to a spinal cord - allowing it to communicate and receive information from not only the ECU but also the transmission computer, stability control module, dash module, and many others. This CANbus connection provides a complete set of real-time operational data which is then dynamically incorporated into your JB4 tuning.

A flash tune, on the other hand, modifies the tables on the ECU directly for higher performance. Usually loaded via the vehicles gateway on the OBDII port, but in some applications directly to the ECU by drilling a hole or disassembling the ECU to access the processor inside."

Low compared to? 5.7 Dyno is just shy of 300 RWP…At the Crank 381. So if parasitic loss is equal the 2022 3.5TT rated at 389…321RWP at the crank would be 402..if anything its underrated?

Yea I've read that article a bunch of times and it really doesn't answer the how just the what. Its also really interesting to note that according to owners on this forum its only the front that is .5 inches lower. The rear is apparently the same height as the base and off-road.I can attest to the front being lower as the stance on mine is raked hard to the front.

We can chalk up any result to variations in the dyno, operator of the dyno, and of course the vehicle and its mileage and condition.

Something is also off on the RPM - looks to be 1000 off. Peak torque from Toyota is at 2400 RPM and the chart only has 200 ft lbs at that rpm

Chassis dynos don’t work well at recording torque readings over a wide enough operating range to capture good data at lower RPM’s if higher RPM’s are needed. Plus getting the transmission to play along and stay in 7th gear from idle to redline at wide open throttle is probably not happening.

I like this guys vids. Nerd Note: At about 2:30, even though they know the area, they bring out the DeLorme Gazetteer to make sure they know the proper route of attack. I'm a Gazetteer nerd. Of course you have to know how to read a map for it to be useful.

Not sure that is the actual dyno report from the jb4 chip. Good point though.

I placed a deposit on an in production Limited. Thanks for the suggestions regarding the suspension and towing. Ultimately this vehicle will serve its purpose just fine. I throughly enjoyed test driving one today. The PVM camera system is incredible. ETA for delivery is a couple weeks

    Howdy,
I am going to start towing with my 2022 Tundra CrewMax 4 X 4 Premium OR package next week.
My travel trailer weights 5500 loaded with dual axles. I use a Blue Ox weight distribution anti sway hitch.
I am going to do hitch up the trailer and do a short test drive prior to hitting the road.
    I will update.

I'm having a hard time believing this is a stuck closed issue. I've not seen any mention of over-boast and the related hoses blowing off. When my truck goes into low power mode, I don't hear the blow off value being held open to bleed of excessive pressure due to a stuck closed wastegate. I have the feeling this is actually a wastegate position sensor issue. Too bad Toyota didn't include a boost gauge to monitor pressures. We'll see where this goes. My truck has gone into reduced power mode a few times, but never set the CEL.

So, I had to go to a town yesterday with a Toyota dealer that had 2 Tundra listed in their website. I get there and there's no trucks. The sales manager/salesman (this a very small dealer) said delivery if these has been put off so many times by Toyota that he no longer pays much attention to the promised date. Got my name on the list for an SR if it shows up.

I might be wrong but isn’t that the reason for reduced power ? So the turbos aren’t being used .

The truck doesn’t have a blow off valve, since it is a mass air flow sensor regulated engine. So it will not vent intake air directly to atmosphere, instead there is a bypass valve and routing to dump excess boost or compressor surge on throttle close back in front of the compressor inlet. Otherwise the ECU can’t account for metered air that has entered and been vented directly to the atmosphere.

Saw a dark blue SR5 CM on the road yesterday, that color looks really nice with that package. Lady probably thought I was a little weird changing lanes all around it to get a good look...lol. The more of these I see in person, the more it grows on me. Started filling my penny jar for my deposit on a 24-25ish Lunar Rock CM Pro... (To replace my Dodge work truck... never getting rid of the Gen 2, until the wheels fall off...)

Stevenson Toyota in Denver is sending out advertising emails at MSRP. They had a platinum and SR5 listed (in transit...)

For the Turbos to not be used, then the wastegate would need to be in the fully opened position. If the wastegate issue is "stuck closed", then the turbos will always be building boost pressure on the intake side as long as there is enough volume of exhaust gases to spin the impeller. There are 2 ways to control boost pressure, primary is the wastegate. The wastegate opens to allow the exhaust gasses to bypass the turbo impeller. When the gases are bypassing the impeller, it can't spin the charge side at speed to build boost. It is possible to bleed off boost pressure on the charge side via the blow off valve, but on the stock setup, there is a limit to how much this will help as the blow off can't be vented to atmosphere due to it potentially having hydro carbons in the intake. Turbos are awesome, but have draw backs.

Yeah, I went 2 hours away just to pay msrp plus window tent and door edge paint guard that I couldn't decline. There is one dealer 45min away that sells at MSRP with out add on, but they were talking about a 6 month waiting list.
