Ok, so my unit used the trucks CANbus for the OEM backup camera. Then I wired up a front bumper camera, powered up to constant power and ran the video to the one video input on my radio. You should be able to do the same, get constant power from the trailer hitch, and hook up to the video input. I use the FCam app.

Ok. Thanks. I plan to try it this weekend. My head unit is supposed to show up tomorrow. I have started swapping the tailgate handle out. Is there a difference between the tail light and the trailer hitch as far as constant power? Just wondered why that is your preference.

If all goes well I will definitely want to add a front camera in the future.

Research the schematic, but your tail light shouldn’t have constant power. Only tail lights when headlights are on, brake lights, and reverse lights.

looking at it more, the trailer plug may not have constant 12V either. You may need to run a wire from the engine bay or cab to provide that power.

I am on the fence about buying this unit. If you know what you know now would you purchase the Dasaita unit again?

Yes, although I might also look at the Tesla style screen knowing now that they integrate with OEM backup camera.

I still like the more flush look of my 10.2 over a floating larger screen.

Bought the same one and it works great. Ran the white USB from the HU to this. Tested it with the plug in Apple Play feature and it worked flawlessly. Also bought a small package of silicone usb plugs and keep one in the usb so the gold and white doesn’t draw the eye to it. Put the insert to the right of the OEM plug. Looks like it’s been there forever. It is a little loose, but not noticeable.

I am installing my HU now and I’ve been on the fence based on reviews. Thanks for the info. I think I’ll give it a shot.

I didnt have the dasaita but had joying 10.1”. It would be a no for me. After awhile I realized sound quality is what i really want in the end. You can’t get the same quality and sound performance like from kenwood and pioneer. It just doesnt cut it. Yes it is features packed. You can add all kind of apps you want.

Looks like a new firmware update was posted on Feb 10 on the Dasaita forums for all 3 firmwares (Scout, Vivid, and Max10).
Will more than likely be updating my unit tomorrow.

Bought a cheap ELM327 Bluetooth OBDII reader from Amazon and I was able to connect it to the HU without issue. Seems to be isolated to Veepak for some reason. Using the free version of CarScanner. Does what I need for free. Just have to watch a video advertisement once every 5-10 connections. Android version is $4.50, might just buy it.

For those of you using the HD out to a rear headrest monitor, are you able to listen to music up front while a movie is playing in the back (dual zone)?

Think I halfway figured this out... at some point I was experimenting with in the "factory settings" by switching the steering wheel controls to SWC and not Canbus. I think that wiped out a lot of things and that's what caused the mixing with the radio. I've since switched back but the steering wheel controls that were defaulted by the canbus are wiped out. Could someone take a picture for me of what they have in the steering wheel controls area? Nicole from Dasaita says I need to program the steering wheel keys the same as the CarPlay, but there's so many different "next song" buttons in the programming I don't know which one to choose. The menu should look like this (Wheelkey Study)...

    After entering wheelkey menu

Did anyone figure out a way to auto connect wi-fi to your phone or is that still an issue?

I have a Samsung and use a Bixby routine to automatically turn on the phone Hotspot so the HU can connect using wifi. Works great. If you don't have a Samsung then some other automation app, like IFFT might work for you

I thought I read somewhere that the HU wasnt auto connecting to the hotspot even if it was turned on?

Okay so finally got around to updating the Scout firmware to the new version, noticed that they put out 2 more updates, so latest it from Feb 21. The UI has been changed, WiFi and Bluetooth seem to function better. Also you can now turn off the stupid back to scout shortcut that would be everywhere, its no longer the circular scout logo, they set it to the left edge of the screen and it can't be moved so glad they put the option to turn it off. I'm sure there's a lot I missed but so far haven't encountered any issues.

Of the three options in firmware which seems to be the best option?? (Scout, Vivid or Max 10) looking at the larger sized screens 11 or 13in.

If you use a launcher to makes things a bit more custom, I'd go to the Max10 firmware. I was planning to switch to Vivid to try it but I'm liking the new version of Scout now. I haven't physically messed with Vivid but it looks alright, no idea if it got an overhaul in the new version like scout but hopefully someone that's updated their Vivid firmware can chime in on it.

Has anyone had success installing one of the new joying units? Looking at the new 11.6 in model for a 2014 1794 edition. I am thinking I should be able to purchase the cb004 canbus and it be plug and play but haven't seen anyone do it yet so I am a little skeptical. I like the look of it better is the reason I want to go that route.

Thx for posting about the updates. Haven't returned to Max10 yet so I'll check out the Scout updates. Just so I can say I asked....each time you update dobyou lose everything? Was bummed to have download all apps and adjust settings after going from Max10 to Scout...also, if you don't know already, Vivid is an app so you can DL and install without and still go back to Max10 or Scout without starting from scratch.

If you’re switching between different firmwares like max to scout or scout to vivid then yea check the box for formatting before updating.
If you’re just updating from say scout to the new version of scout then you don’t have to check the box to format everything you can just install to update.

And yea I remember there being a vivid launcher also but I think it got taken down so only way to try vivid now is by switching to the vivid firmware if I remember correctly.

if you’re on the new version with the new UI, touch the scout icon on the bottom left, open up settings(not the settings app), and scroll down.

Also looks like there's an MCU update.
    12.jpg

I wasn't able to get my unit to update. The old file name use to be dmcu.img but the new file is hmcu.img

No idea how to get it to update. I messaged dasaita to ask if this was an update also for the px6 scout units and they said yes but I can't get it to work. The unit wont recognize the file as an MCU update if its named hmcu. I tried changing the file name to dmcu, the unit recognized it tried to install but it fails.

Messaged dasaita to ask about this so just waiting on an answer.

well got an answer from dasaita, the mtch mcu isnt an update for units with an mtce mcu, like they originally told me but they did say there is an mtce mcu update coming at a later time. so looks like its just firmware updates for now.

Is it supposed to be pretty obvious? Settings menu still looks the same to me - not sure if it's under the advanced or factory settings.
