Is there a film I am supposed to remove, or is it an anti-glare protective screen? Mine has a few bubbles and I am wondering if it is something I should remove or leave alone.

Do you have a picture? My screen had a pull tab on the plastic cover that clearly indicated to pull it off.

Looks like a protective screen that should be removed after the vehicle is sold.

Definitely a screen protector. Enjoy removing the plastic to show a nice crisp screen. I saw someone here buy a glass screen protector like the ones available for phones, so I will probably do that and only pull the plastic off once I have my protector in hand.

I'll go somewhat against the grain and warn that if it doesn't come easy then don't force it. A lot of modern monitors have anti-glare films applied to them that are NOT supposed to be removed (the monitor itself is designed/calibrated around the film staying on permanently & the film is 'glued' because of this).

I tried to peel it from the corner, and it felt like it might be a thicker protective cover rather than just a film. I will try again to maybe separate the two. Thinking it might be a thin film covering over a protective glass like the one you showed. If I wreck it, I will be sure to replace with the screen protector you showed. Thanks!

That doesn’t look like the screen film I pulled off of both radios in my truck. Kind of looks like the anti glare is messed up.

I would strongly recommend taking it to your dealership and showing them the defect before you pull it off. If it's a defective anti-glare film application - it's on them. If it's a yanked off anti-glare film - it will be on you.

Edit: and an anti-glare film (if that's what it is) is not simply a screen protector. You will mess up your screen removing it & putting a screen protector on to replace it will not help.

Mine has four small bubbles along the very
Bottom black portion. Only visible in the right light but frustrating.

While adding the screen protector linked above, realized mine still had the factory plastic on it — it was that good and free of bubbles.
The whole touchscreen is far more responsive now that the plastic is gone. The protector is excellent.

I bet that was a relief the second you realized...whew, I'm not messing it up worse! If I had a dollar for every time I was in that situation, am I helping or hurting this situation, lol. I tell people I can fix anything until it's broken.

Hi guys, new to the Tundras forum.

I don’t have the truck yet, I’m looking to get the TDR Pro or SR5 Sports. Got couple questions.

First I was wondering is there any screen protector that is tempered glass that will fit edge to edge?

Second question anybody know the measurements edge to edge. I couldn’t find any info.

It looks like the UI is 14”. I found some site that do custom size but I need the dimensions for edge to edge.

    Thanks!

The Spigen Tempered Glass Screen was too small to fit from edge to edge. It also had a notch for a laptop camera. I sent it back and ordered this.

I will let you know if it works, but by the looks of the video, it should be perfect.

I feel like mine may also still have factory plastic. I don't see bubbles but it isn't quite as responsive as I'd expect. Did yours have a pull tab anywhere for removal?

It did not have a tab. But if you remove it, I would suggest getting a screen protector like the one I posted above. I did notice a couple of small scratches that happened between pulling off the old film and applying the new one. Also the matte finish on the new screen protector prevents any smudges or finger prints.

Thanks for the quick response. I ran out at lunch and pulled the plastic off mine. The glass behind feels 100% better while navigating the menus. I agree that an additional screen protector will be a wise investment.

3rd Gen Tundra buyers - Check for that film! It looks like a lot of dealers are leaving the film on and it impedes screen use (even if it doesn't have bubbles)

6DB1D978-9584-4B40-A1FC-3B7BDE07501D.jpg BTW the screen protector from OCD plug company fits perfect and functions great as anti-glare and anti-fingerprint. Thumbs up.

Getting some irritating glare from the Spigen protector, will probably swap for the OCD.

Was this hard to install? Any issue with screen brightness or touch sensitivity? I am about to pull the trigger on this!
