Front end parts help

The over 20 year old factory struts with 150k miles on them still worked and the bushings even looked okay:

 

My summary after the rebuild:

- The spacer combo I used was perfect in my opinion. The truck now sits up much better in the front, but still has some rake as intended from the factory.
- The main thing I noticed from the suspension was less body roll, there is an incredible difference in this department.
- The steering turns much easier and there is no play now. It only takes one finger to turn, and on the highway it tracks better. We just eye balled the alignment, but will get that done in a week or so.

I feel like she's ready for another 100k+ miles, and am very pleased with the results for the cost. Saved a ton doing it myself.

 

What components from MOOG were recently recalled

 

Ball joints. I went with OEM for mine. I will say, I was not happy with the Moog end links as the threads were machined very poorly. I was unable to use them, the nut would not even thread on them.

 

Hmmm, I just ordered a set of those. I may pop the box open and check them.

 

Pics? Kinda curious; mine were fine when I picked up mine from Advanced Auto but that was several years back.

 

I can get some, left them over at my buddies place. The suppled nuts would thread on the OEM ends I took off. The nuts from either set would not thread onto the new end links. Sucked bad because I was on a time crunch and that was the last thing I needed to button up when I dropped the truck. Had to take them off and put the old ones back on.

 

Well you could've drove without them, but that's in the past. If you're not completely turned off to Moog, I'd suggest just getting them locally so they can easily be swapped out for good ones. Hopefully, thats a one time occurrence.

 

That's what I was originally going to do, but the ones I took off it looked and felt good so just threw them back on. I was anxious to see the difference all the work I had done made.

 

If the Moog are OE style, you could just rob the new bushings off of the Moogs and put them on the OE links.
