Blackout interior

Finally!!! Finish my interior. I had matte finish with no clear coat to protect my paint. Got tired of the wife throwing her keys and scratching my pint. It’s a bit to glossy but hey, it’s protect and no more chrome.

 

how did you get the black volume button on the steering wheel?

Also what steering wheel is that?

You have to remove the steering wheel panels.. the silver trim panels. Once you remove the panel it’s pretty much simple from there. Disconnect the wire and then it’s 3 screws holding it. Here is a link to removing the panels but to get to the volume button all you have to do is use a small flat head screws driver to pop it out. Of course with no excessive force.

did you paint the volume button or does Toyota make one that can be purchased?

 

I couldn't find one, mine's painted black too. My emblem is Plastidipped but you can buy covers now and in different colors.

toyota doesn’t make one sadly. It’s honestly not hard to take off and paint. But if you paint it then you won’t light up at night. Which honestly to me it doesn’t matter. I rather it be painted then to have black steering wheel trims with a silver button lol

Just to add, I recently picked up a '20 4R steering wheel and it has oem paint like below. However I spoke with Roman prior to and he mentioned this as well, but the entire button assembly must be purchased together. $380+

 

maybe check eBay? Look at Tacoma tundra and 4Runner. Let’s be honest, you ain’t gonna pay 380+ for a volume button

Almost done with mine. Waiting to black out the darker silver trim that runs across the dash & all 4 doors lower trim.

 

What is your plan on the doors? Just curious. I pulled mine apart and painted them. Considering redoing it.

 

Bought the covers off eBay. They’re bright red but I’ll be painting them matte black. Then they just tape on overtop, easy enough & removable if needed.
