    Function before sparkle.
    Exactly.

Extra internet points to anyone who can actually find for sale a non-synthetic 0W-20. There are very, very few manufacturers that make a conventional zero weight. So in practical terms there is no choice.

If you look up IlSAC GF-6A approved oils, they only list Full synthetic or synthetic blends. No Dino oil listed.

    Too many, but not enough....
Think pretty much dino is only used for specialty products like clutch based LSDs and lockers and such nowadays.

Note even remotely true, but okay. I agree with you, the best oil is clean oil; however, synthetic can last longer under high heat and colder environments.
If you change your oil ever 3k, it really doesn't matter what you use. Those "close" interval oil changes allows you to do any preventative maintenance it might need which makes it last longer... Also clean oil generally means a clean intake/valves which always have build up with people that choose not to change their oil.
You do NOT find more wear using synthetics, no way no how. Every oil analysis, test, and wear tests show they reduce wear.
Oil is NEVER the direct cause of an engine failure. Generally it's poor machine work or someone's screw up putting it together.

0W-20 is too light for a TT V6 in a truck and is all about the EPA. Prove I am wrong.

You know that farm guy on youtube who tests stuff. I’d LOVE to see the difference in performance between conventional oil at 2500 miles and synthetic oil at 9k miles…

well be happy you can still somewhat easily still change your oil yourself. i am expecting in the future they will go the same route as the transmission setup and add some inconvenience for the average joe to change the oil.

at my age, i'd rather just take it in to a place i trust and let them do in under 30mins and be done with it. dont have to deal with used crap afterwards.

oil change in my 14 4runner is like $90. i could probably do it for under $50 in the summer by myself in about 1-2 hrs but then the long term cost of the setup to do an oil change, i would have to take a few years to recoup the initial cost. and lets not even talk about winters in ND and trying to change your oil unless you have heated and proper garage to do it in.

at my age in the 50's i dont have the gumption to care to do oil changes anymore. i have better things to worry about :)

    like grand kids.

Thats what a Fumoto valve is for. Just hook a hose onto it and drain the oil straight into an empty oil jug. No mess, no fuss.

At least with my F150, I can just slide under without lifting it off the ground, drain the oil, and be done in 30 minutes or less. Its half the time that it would take me to drive to a "trusted" place and back. And I know its done right with good oil.

and you forgot the time you had to go get the oil, filter and dispose of the waste. so you did that in less than 30 mins? good for you. personally i couldnt give .02 for the satisfaction of doing it myself. i have better things to worry about. and at the rate i put 10k on vehicle, thats at most 2 oils changes a year, even less on the tundra as we only get about 7-8k per year on it. and before you go spouting off that i should change my oil more often. meh, been doing 1-2 oil changes a year for 20yrs and i've yet to have any issues with any of my toyota's. working toward 9yrs on the 4runner and i am still on my oem brake pads, trans oil, brake fluid and spark plugs. last year had the 3 diffs and chemical flushed the cooling system. i might get around to having someone change the trans oil and spark plugs or brake fluid but meh, not sure if i want to keep it past 2023.

i just drop the vehicle off and come back in the afternoon to pick it up. again i have better things to do than having the satisfaction of doing something that i couldnt give .02 about.

but more power to you and your satisfaction of telling people you changed your oil yourself. no one gives a crap about that. i learn a long time ago a lot of the stuff we think matters really doesnt matter except to the person doing it.
