It looks clean though. You can always get one with a removable control pack and mount in engine bay. Put mine high on passenger fender area.

Wish I have found this a while back so I stopped ripping bumper skin off mine regularly. It says the hitch is only class iii though. Does anyone make a high clearance off-road bumper that keeps the class iv?

tight fitment like that is not necessarily a good thing. The bumper will need some room to move as the truck flexes or you will start to pop the panel below your headlights or possibly crack your grill. I hang my bumper as low as possible just for this.

You can see here how the passenger side gap is gone going over an obstacle, if there was no gap the bumper would push up into that panel and either pop it or crack it

Can confirm, a gap is absolutely necessary. I made the mistake on my Tacoma of the aftermarket bumper not having a gap and I blew those little trim pieces underneath the headlights right off while off-roading.

I ordered this bumper recently. Here's my progress. Its an excellent kit. Good quality steel, well thought out and engineered. One thing to mention though is that you must relocate your power steering cooler. This is not mentioned on the website. Its easy and just requires replacing a hose with a 20" piece of 3/8 line and then mounting it higher on the chassis using a provided relocation kit.

Some minor odds and ends to go then paint.

There is room for adjustment and the instructions call for a 1/4-3/8" gap. I went a little above that to account for flex from our spaghetti frames.

I've been eyeing that coastal kit. Does it seem pretty sturdy around where the winch mounts? Does it come with eyelets for shackles? I haven't seen any pics with them.

For those that are looking for a rear bumper too, Coastal said they're going to be coming out with a matching rear bumper kit later this year.

Yes, the design is favorable for a pretty stout winch plate that's boxed in and has gussets under the plate as well. Its then welded to the two side plates that are also the recovery points. I seam welded the sides and stitch welded the rest but you could seam weld the entire plate if you wanted to mitigate against any chance of flex.

    IMG_4296.jpg

The side plates it attaches to are extremely stout in that they're 3 plates of 3/16 steel sandwiched together that are then plug and seam welded with a center hole as your recovery point. This is in line with the frame rails and bolts right to it so its very strong.

It wasn’t terrible given the times, but longer than advertised. Ordered Dec 31st, shipped out January 18th, got it on the 20th.

Quick question. Does anybody know if the Westin outlaw rear bumper is compatible with the factory hitch and if so, how it looks? I undertand the premise behing relocating it behind the license plate

No it's not compatible with the factory hitch, you have to buy the Westin hitch. I had that bumper, this is what remains.rear bumper.jpg

Awesome! Thanks for the response. I've got someone local selling a brand new front and rear set for $1200 and was hoping this would work.

    Yep! Its the perfect height.

I had posted these pics elsewhere but for those interested, this is how the finished bumper came out. Extremely happy with it.

Will the factory fog lights bolt up in those square holes or do you need aftermarket ones?

can you get a shot of underneath where the skidplate attaches to the bumper?

Those with the HD Ranch Hand style bumpers.... Is there any effect on your headlight output? It seems that the large center uprights would block some of the beam towards the center. Especially on the Steelcraft Elevation one.

Looks good my brother. Assuming you did install, how did you wire the light bar in the middle?
