This is how I install leaf springs by myself.
I line up the floor jack inline with the frame hanger. Place the leaf pack on the jack but offset so you have room to place the pack onto the perch. Using my hands to balance the pack and my foot to push it in. I get the pack right above the perch and drop the center pin into the hole. My leaf pack was 110lbs, this made it easy, and avoided pinching the ABS wire (which I've done a few times before using this technique).

Chevy leafs have almost the same dimensions as the tundra. I wonder if anybody has tried using some of them.

So mine pops when I start backing out of the driveway in the morning. It will only do it then. When I pull back in, it will do it again after it sits for several hours. It does not do it when I am backing into a space at work. My Toytecs are torqued at 74 ft lbs. What he wants me to do is loosen the nut on both shackles and then back down the driveway to see if it still does it. He is wondering if the torque on the shackles is what's causing it. He also said that someone else called him and has the same exact issue...only backing out of their driveway.

Interesting….not familiar with Toytec shackles but do the shackles compress to where they are rubbing against the spring or does the bushing protrude out enough to prevent rubbing?

Mine doss the exact same thing. Have you tried out his suggestion? My CB shackle doesn't hug the bushings like your Toytecs do. They're more of a H shape where yours bow in a little. I thought that could be a factor...but if you also have the sound...

Chilly here too but my ass got stir crazy and mounted the anti-sway bar.

Here is my shackle shot. My driveway has a sloping, twisted grade to it so my truck always sits with mild articulation.

I'm giving it another few days to see if it comes back. The front eye bolts and ubolts are torqued to 90 ft lbs. My shackles were torqued to 74 ft lbs. I loosened the nuts as suggested and I could see the shackles creating some space between the shackle and the bushings. I rolled back in neutral with the truck off and no pop. I retorqued them to 65 ft lbs and no pop that I can hear. My neighbor said that he heard it pop but he could have been messing with me....he does that at times.

Well, you've seen I've got space between mine. Interesting tidbit: ever since I put my sway bar back on I haven't heard it. Maybe I needed the extended links...:notsure:

I have my sway bar brackets rotated to.the back if the axle but I don't see that being an issue.

Have you checked the torque on the bolts going into the frame?

This is the weight my truck is driven with daily. I will be calling Tyler at alcan today to discuss what weight i need to go with on the springs. When camping im sure i add a few hundred pounds between my wife/kids/gear. I don’t want to over spring because i still want good flex from the rear like i am currently getting with my sacked out deaver 748u. Right now I’m running my toytec shackles at 1.5” to make the truck sit correctly statically. I’m thinking i will ask for 2” of lift and the alcan shackles to get it where I want it.

Talked to tyler at alcan and ordered up a set of +1200lb springs with 2" of lift. my only stuggle is wondering if 2" combined with alcans .5-1" shackle will be too much lift. Right now im on a set of flat deaver 748u's with a toytec shackle set @ 1.5" of lift. Im wondering if i should go with 1.5" of lift on the spring instead of 2"

You will have some settling that will decrease the height a little. FYI your springs will be +1200 total...600 per side.

yes correct. According to the weights I gathered of my truck the 1200lb payload is correct just not sure about the lift. I wish more people had measurements or pics of similar setups with that height spring. I will keep searching and see if anyone has a similar setup.

IIRC I believe that @Cruzer and @texasrho83 have at least 2 inches of lift built into their springs.

Loosened the torque on my shackles. Dropped them from 75 to 65 ft lbs.

No idea, but I torqued my shackle bolts to the same ft/lbs I did the last time. It hasn't been heard since I re-installed my rear sway bar with longer links.

I ordered min at +800 with 2” lift. I too worried about the additional .5” that the Alcan shackles will add to the height. Was concerned about being too high in the back so I called back a couple of days after order and changed the springs to 1.5”. This will allow some adjustment with the shackles if need be but felt better after changing the lift amount.
