I don't think it has to do with affording it, I think it's mostly a coping thing. People want to believe they made the 'right' decision, so when they make this new Tundra that's different, these people need to shit on it to justify their own version of the Tundra.

Reminds me a lot of video game consoles as a kid - "the Xbox/Playstation/GameCube is the best and everyone who bought the other console is clearly an idiot and making worse choices".

People get older but never really change.

    Yep, pretty well stated.
Sick of reading the hate shit from the prior gen owners, and I really like the prior trucks of all gens! They are beasts in a good way.
It's almost like a self-assurance that they did okay in opting for a style that is now a model year and redesign older. Gotta hate to make if somehow feel right.

Take it to the gen 1,2,2.5 forums, leave the gen 3 forum be.

In the last 2 weeks I’ve seen 4 2022 Tundras on the road . 2 silver , 1 red and 1 wind chill pearl . I was on the highway and they were going in the opposite direction so I couldn’t tell what trim they were .

Nah, no hate here; leave the triggered stuff out of it.

Many are just weary of the same mundane anti-'22 postings from the same guys in this dedicated Gen 3 forum. Let it go already for cripes sake.

This is why sitting out the current market for a year or two is a good bet. To your points:

1.) Newer vehicles are more complicated, and the new Tundra is no exception. Complications can equal more problems that take time to sort out.

2.) I have to disagree with you on quality as years go by, it doesn’t have to be that way. Completely dependent on who is in charge and what standards are being met.

3.) Correct, fortunately Toyota is taking it right up the ass right now on turbocharger waste gate actuators, and other things. This very negatively affects them. So they are motivated to fix it for their own sake, although it appears they’re fixing their situation first at the detriment of existing owners of Tundra’s. This is a lesson for all of us that own a Toyota product: Toyota is in it for them first and us somewhere further down the list.

4.) Absolutely correct. 90% of the time accountants fuck products up not the engineers who designed them or the production gurus and factory grunts who make them. Trying to pinch pennies at the expense of quality is a bad idea, and everyone involved in the design and production of a product will tell you that.

5.) Correct, and that is why no one should voluntarily be buying a new Tundra right now. Toyota clearly can’t supply replacement parts if your truck has an issue, or gets in a wreck etc. You will be totally at Toyota’s mercy and as we’ve observed they’re not giving you parts to get your shit fixed until they’ve met THEIR goals first.

Well said. Opinions are emotional which is why this forum gets heated so quickly. Facts are truths that make people want to live by opinion. Vicious cycle!

There you go. Thank you. Someone can have this opinion and make clear points without being a forum nuisance. I respect that. I made a different decision as I needed a truck soon, got a crazy good deal to sell my Jeep and didn't want the 21 because I think they are ugly, outdated (severely), get poorer gas mileage despite worse hp and torque. (That is all just my personal opinion --well the ugly is anyway, the rest is pretty factual.) I feel the new model is worth the risk as I know Toyota will take care of me. If I am one of the very few with a problem, I'll get a loaner and put miles on someone else's vehicle. I got the longest warranty. I'm not worried. Feel free to state your opinion, but don't be a forum jerk about it.

The forums should have vin authentication that allows read or write access depending on what you own! Meaning I wouldn’t be allowed to post on this thread and that’s okay with me. Only kidding maybe?

No. There is a lot to be learned from everyone, and everyone's input can be helpful. But a few just can't resist the urge to be a thug about it. Constantly posting negative opinions without facts is not helpful to anyone.

Thanks for your concern. But, hey, I bought a new model year Jeep a few years ago (not exactly known for their reliability or customer care) -- I'm comfortable with risk.

This thread will be at the bottom of the pile in 1 year so let’s all meet up and grab a beer and be cool about it. To many I gotta be rights on here. Cheers! Challenge to one day of supporting each other on this thread. I’ve got a Gen 2 but I know one thing I have in common with y’all and it’s that we all love our Toyotas. Let’s build on that guys. I want but can’t afford a 22’ but I also want the best for who has or is getting a 22’.[/QUOTE]

That's cool that it only goes into that cylinder deactivation when you select Eco mode. I'd want to disable it. It's well known that it causes additional wear on the deactivated cylinders. Garbage system on all cars all to save a few MPG while ignoring the fact that a large portion is negated by these engines ending up in the junk yard. Lol

Custom bug spat pattern hood, grill & bumper. Dead Live Oak leaf collection under hood, cowl and lower fenders. Beach sand custom floor covering.
Back many years ago with American Honda they told us a happy customer tells only one other person. A dissatisfied customer tells 16 others. I have no way of verifying those ratios but filtering through posts comparing dealer kudos to gripes might show Honda was very close over 40 years ago.

    PS

All of you pontificating that this is all about hating or loving should please start your own thread and stop hijacking this one. There are those trying to track this issue and when Toyota is going to fix it.

Have Tundra 2 1/2 weeks and just over 550 Miles. Stating up front I really like the truck. One observation-Anyone else seeing this. On cold morning 1st start in single digit temps to near zero. Turbo lag very pronounced for first few miles. Extremely sluggish and then boast kicks in. After 1-2 miles, starts going away and completely gone after about five miles. I am careful with heavy right foot :). My gauge for driving is other car-fun ride-supercharged with linear and predictable throttle response.

Agreed. belong to several other forums (4Runner, Roush Mustangs and Target Shooting). Same as well with the bickering. I liken it to Key board warriors banging on the keys without the direct communication. Vast majority would not say the same things face to face that are typed out on the forums.
