I’m still curious about the VFtuner or whatever it’s called, not sure what the price tag is on an entire “setup”

Me too. If that VF tuner would be more user friendly. I would definitely look at buying it.

Yea unless you are super savvy with thier particular tuning software and access to a dyno on a daily. I rather have the remote turning DAP offers. Not sure if he offers our trucks that option though. Remote tunning style. That's really the best I think because they review the driving styles you drive on a daily.

I couldn't find the part at their website. But after digging around URD's site, I'm curious if anyone has done their TB adapter upgrade to throw the larger RCF throttle body on? I guess you'd probably need to change up your intake box also eh. Not sure it would just swap in.

Say what!? Haven't been on thier website in a few months. I have to check this TB adapter out. RCF TB you say? Wonder what size it is compared to ours.

I was looking at mine while under the truck cleaning up from my valve cover leak and popping off the skid plate to swap alternator and serpentine out this weekend. I didn't look too hard, but I didn't see anywhere obvious to grease them. I'll just reiterate here, I'm relatively suspension/wheel/tire ignorant, electrical and engine are my general expertise.

I think the stock throttle body is 76mm, and I think the Lexus RCF throttle body is 84mm?

I dunno. Just looked like an easy way to provide more air flow inbound. Aisin's replacement TB was under $200 if I found the right part, and it looks like URD and at least one other place sell the TB adapter, under $100 too.

r9k is known to produce numbers. but its not the cleanest way. the VF tuner should be able to eek more power up. but it will take more effort to do so. i do see 20 hp gains being potentially doable with VF tuner.

Without the accompanying upgrades, would these even do much besides lean out the rich-running 2UZ? ~$270 sounds doable to test. The $600-700 from Toyota, not so much unless you upgraded more.

Upsizing the TB won't affect fuel mixture at all.

It has the effect of making the throttle more sensitive at lower pedal inputs (larger TB allows more air at fewer degrees open), less sensitive to input changes (30% open to 40% open is still a lot open), but allows more air at WOT. (it's just a bigger hole to suck air through)

The metering is done by the MAF and the O2 sensors.
It's not much of an upgrade unless you spend a lot of time at WOT.

It won't even affect WOT. The TB will open larger, earlier as you stated, in which the computer will read too much air based on pedal position and balance out as soon as the TB is open. The top end won't make any difference. It may feel more pep from idle, but will produce no gains without plenty of other upgrades.

It may or may not affect WOT depending on the engine and components. If the TB is the primary restriction to induction, then enlarging it will totally have an effect. If the intake manifold is the primary restriction, then you're correct and the TB will have no effect on WOT.
I haven't studied the 2UZFE enough to know where the flow restrictions are. We all know the exhaust manifolds are an impedance to flow, but IDK that anyone has really looked at the intake side of things beyond pulling the carbon screen from the airbox and the endless debate of CAI/intake options.

I know you know that an engine is a system and all the components have to work in concert to make power.
Having put an oversized TB on a previous engine (after doing all the other engine mods) I can tell you that it can have a positive effect on power. Whether it will or won't on a 2UZFE, I cannot say.

I think it can work in conjunction with the URD MAF Calibrator which evens out flow flow volume coming in. And a decent CAI.

I think he was asking because iridium plugs come pre gapped. My understanding is you should not attempt to re gap an iridium plug

Yea I've heard that too and never understood why, Iridium is one of the strongest elements around. And Pulstars instructions call for adjusting gap as needed for factory specs. Even though the tech rep sent me this set saying they were gapped to 1mm.

They can be gapped. But never with the gapping tool you can easily find. Proper feeler gauges and a tool to bend the electrode is fine if your careful

Yea I rarely gap my plugs. I was careful in using the measuring tool when gapping them. And you're right, it's difficult finding a proper gapping tool.

First of many boxes arrived today. $500 down, $4500 to go. I don't know if I discussed it here, but I'm taking off the 1st weekend in April to rebuild a shit ton in Ironman. Full front end rebuild, some interior shit, prop shaft, fix the rear axle/brakes, lift, all that good shit.
