Go Rhino RB20

I'm reading this after the fact. Makes me feel a bit like a rebel....

I didn't check anything. Yep, instructions said double cab for my crew max. Yep, instructions showed lock washers ..

I just aligned the brackets and started putting stuff together and see if it all worked out. It did.

But yeah, seriously, Go Rhino needs to update their stuff can't be expensive to print off a piece of paper. ..


Also, mounted backwards because that's how they should be

 

I was thinking of switching to the RB20s. I was wondering how they would look on my truck then I found your pics. I absolutely know now! thanks a lot man

 

Sorry, just saw this. Yes indeed bro. I still have them on. Love them. And surprisingly durable for price and intended use. I don’t wheel. But. Do hunt and go off road in fields and mountain power lines and roads. Pennsylvania salt. Just under carriage wash as much as possible.

 

Been seeing for a little while on the Go Rhino website that they have a "slim" RB10 and RB20 listed for the Tundra, but no real info on it. Called today and found out they are real, they are actually going to be available in the next couple weeks, and they are 5" wide instead of 6.5" or 7" like the regular steps. I went ahead and ordered up a set!

I'm pumped! Love the look of the RB20, but they stick out WAY too far on a stock-ish truck IMO. Can't wait to get the slimmer ones!!!

 

You have got to be kidding me! I put my "regular" RB20s on a couple weeks ago and the first thing I thought was that they need to be slightly narrower unless you're running a more aggressive wheel and tire combo. I did not even notice a "slim" option. I'm not going to swap them out, but interested to see what yours look like!

Also would it be a good idea to have stainless steel bolts vs the ones they provide? I drive up north a lot during the winter months and all that salt and brine eat everything.

 

Mine are on going on 5 years. No lock washers, just the supplied with the flat. No issues, no worries. GREAT RB's

 

With higher offset rims the wideness of the steps are definitely noticeable.

But once lower offset rims are installed, the boards really flow well.

I have them installed “backwards” since day one.

 

Exactly right. I also installed mine backwards. I think it makes more sense.

Now, does a $450 set of running boards warrant me spending $2-3k on wheels and tires haha....

 

To each his own, I put them on with the wide section forward. Works great for me.

 

Hey everyone, new to the forum, but wanted to get in on the RB20 slim chat. I've been looking at getting the RB20s, but was really excited when I saw the new slim option coming. However, I just finished a chat on the Go Rhino site and they confirmed that the new slim ones should be available around 2/18, but they will still have a taper and that the are 5.5 inches wide in the front and 2.5 inches in the back. I was excited about a slimmer option, but that amount of taper seems a bit extreme to me. Now I'm back to thinking of getting the regular RB20s. Anyone else think a 3 inch difference from one end to the other would look a bit weird?

 

That seems pretty aggressive to me as well. Still curious to see them installed, however.

I will say, I've had my regular RB20s on for a few weeks now and I don't even notice the width anymore. I think it's one of those things you stare at initially and like an hour later you no longer care. They look good and function well.

 

I had a set for about eight months until I realized they’re worthless off-road. I sold them and I’m getting sliders now. They’re awesome for day to day use though. Especially the bed-liner coated ones.

 

I agree, I would like to see them on. I’m kind of now leaning back to the original RB20s given the taper is less drastic on those. My truck came with W drop steps that I really like, but I keep coming back to the Go Rhinos. Looking forward to pics of the slim ones.

 

Watching this thread to see some of the narrow RB20's installed. The regular RB20's are indeed wide and provide a substantial platform for stepping in and out of the Tundra. If you like to step out of the truck, bypassing the step, then they are a bit wide for my leg length (32" inseam). So, I step in and step out using these steps. They are excellent for the intended purpose. One of the unexpected benefits of the RB20's is the protection from parking lot shopping carts and adjacent car door dings.

 

I've been trying to decided between RB10's and the Tygers. But with a slim option...RB10 slims might be in the lead now.

 

As much as I liked the RB20’s being anal like i’am Lol. After having to return them because I was not happy with the finish and especially the stuff they put down on our roads in Pa and also how close they sat to the truck to get in between to clean the rocker jams I chose the Tyger steps. I had them on my 4runner Pro for years but a different design and held up without getting any rust. As you can see I can get in there to wash that area really well.

 

Awesome truck man, Army Green looks so killer. I have a Pro in Lunar Rock, but always love pics of Army Green ones. Great pic of the RB20s too. I'm trying to decide between keeping the W drop steps that came on mine, or switching to Go Rhinos.

 

The one and only problem I've had with my RB20's is my dog has gotten her nails caught in the little slots when trying to get into the back seat. Good lord the pain that must cause her and yelping like you've never heard. Yes she gets her nails trimmed every three weeks and she's 75lbs so that's a lot of weight on on one paw nail getting caught.

I now have to place a board down on the running board so she'll be confident in getting in the back seat. Besides that I love my RB20's.

 

I installed mine this last weekend. So far so good. I like they way they look and now my wife can get in without jumping into the passenger seat!

 

I called and ordered my set over the phone and "Michelle" (think that was her name) told me they're 5.5" at the widest, and 4.5" at the narrowest. That seems a LOT more likely than 2.5". 2.5" isn't even a side step. It would barely clear the rocker panel.

 

Yeah that makes a whole lot more sense. I asked the person I chatted with twice and they confirmed two times, but glad to hear that’s not the case. I probably should have just called to confirm. These are back on my list now, thanks for the info. Make sure and post some pics when you get yours on.

Dudes, stop overthinking this. They are running boards, on a truck. I have had my 20’s, backwards, on my 2017, for several years, and they are awesome. Cheap, durable, look good. Not sliders of course. Stop overthinking this.

Hey guys i bought some rb20s bedliner sprayed finish and didn’t like how they looked installed but my left some running board came with a slight chip of the bedliner finish and company didn’t wana take them back since they were installed.. I payed 750 for both, selling just the left side for $100 no brackets. If anyone is interested let me know.
