nice, on my Tacoma it was halogen so I swapped to high output LED bulb and life is good

but the new Tundra come with LED reverse lights already and I don't think they can be easily swapped, so adding that might be the easier way.

How was tapping into the reverse light wires? Do you have to figure out which wire is which in order to get it to work? or the light is non polar?

Yeah, I've always changed the reverse lights to LEDs, even on my 2019 and I still added this lol

More light works for me with dark window tint, it just helps

Tapping into the reverse lights was very easy and with the 2022, the reverse lights being in the bumper instead of tail lights, its even easier access. Took me like 10 minutes to do with most of my time being used to clean up and make it look nice

    VLED bar posted above ^

Yes, it comes with T taps to just splice. They're okay, not water proof, better when used inside the cabin and not exposed to elements.

I would suggest getting or making an actual reverse light harness that connects to the reverse wiring connectors with a IP rated pigtail VLED 2 pin connecter for this. No hacking factory wiring that can short if wet, moister build up and corrode.

Yup, it's the VLEDs License Plate Reverse lights:
    https://www.vleds.com/lp-reverse-72-w-5500k.html

They supplied everything and you don't have to splice anything. It comes with a DUO Tap so you'll just put the wires through it. Once done, I wrapped everything with electrical tape and tucked it away so hopefully it won't be an issue with water or elements :)

in your 2022 Tundra, is there a red wire and a black wire like the photo shown, and is that how you tapped them? I assume that tap is single use, and you can't redo it if wrong wires are tapped

Yes, if you look under the truck at the reverse lights, you'll see the red, black (could be white/black cable, can't remember) and they also have a green. I tapped into the red and black.

I don't have a 2022, maybe OP could help with color wires but I would think it would be the same?

That is how you tap it, as shown in the picture.

You can use them more than once, but you have to be careful if you pry them open not to damage the claps tabs that crimp the wire in place. I've used these T duotaps, T single taps, single and double straight taps more than once when re-wiring. Also be careful about the wire itself doing multiple taps. If it doesn't work the first time, swap the wires in the same splice / tap location.

Can anyone tell me where you tap in with the DUOTAP.
Was it in the tail light housing?
I question because the reverse light is in the bumper.
Help understanding the tap in location would be greatly appreciated!

Adding lights seemed to be the best route since the current housing size and they already have LEDS,so I used this as a piggyback for the reverse lights, from Slamazon.

I tucked them up high and tight to keep it clean looking.

I have the vled license plate light. Direct plug and play and it’s crazy bright. One of my favorite mods.

I just installed them in my truck last weekend. The running lights looks great and the reverse is noticeably brighter. It is a PITA to install because you have to basically take every panel off the rear bumper to get to them. I'll try to get pictures this weekend, but I don't have a comparison to the stock.

This may be stupid and/or crazy to ask, but what if you wanted to run two different reverse light setups off of that OEM tow harness? Does anyone make a "man in the middle" harness adapter that has both male and female ends to kind of daisy chain I guess?

Or is that too much to ask of a tow harness that wasn't designed to run multiple things?

just curious how the output is.

I gotta take some, only regular white light on the one I have. It plugs into the trailer connector seamlessly. I live on a farm and the more light the better. It’s bright to say the least hahaha

I was thinking of adding these. They are bright and make the rear camera more usable at night?
What part number did you order?

So, you used the PnP version that uses the VLED trailer harness adapter? On their website VLED says that this adapter isn't compatible with trucks that have trailering assist tech, like we have?? Apparently this is supposed to activate tow mode or something. Whereas it looks like some other folks here are using the VLED universal kit with t-taps instead. I'd much prefer to do PnP if that works.

I mounted two Baja S1 lights on a custom bracket. Since this picture I have removed the spacers to move the lights back to allow the hitch pin to clear.
SUPER Bright. I spliced into the existing 7-Pin wire harness, but I like @Blufin Trailer plug adapter better.

    Pics for ideas:

You can tap into the 7-Pin existing trailer harness. Backup wire is yellow the center wire. But the adapter @Blufin listed above would be much easier then just tap into the 4-pin wire for reverse.

There is a guy selling new Form lights if anyone is interested. I looked into these, but it's a much harder install as you have to take the rear bumper nearly apart.

There was a guy on here making harnesses to plug n play behind taillights. Not sure if still does them. I got one to power a pair of Baja design S2 as reverse lights.
