Been thinking about painting or powder coating my tow hooks on my 2021 1794. if you have done it, did you paint or power coat...pros or cons? Does anyone have any pictures of the final product?

Not the best picture but you get the idea. I painted these and so far they’re holding up well, but they don’t see any real use.

Man that looks sharp.....just the right amount of pop in color. Did you prime it and then paint it or just paint? Also did you use a special paint or just Rustoleum or something?

    Thanks
I just scuffed them up, and cleaned them with alcohol. I had some Rustoleum in a quart laying around and used a foam brush which didn’t leave any brush marks. I think I did 2 or 3 coats. They probably won’t last forever but didn’t take much time and easy to touch up. I also have the TRD front sway bar and skid plate with red letters to install when it warms up.

Nice! that will look sweet with the TRD sway bar and skid plate! Post some pics when you get it done. Thanks for the paint info and your right it will be easy to touch up:hattip:....not planning on mine getting a lot of use but you never know....

Anyone gone with blue? I like blue but not sure it will pop like the red does

It may be a little while before I get them installed due to the weather. I also need to decide if I want to install them before I have the steering Recall checked/fixed.

Understood....good luck with the steering recall and hope all is taken care of quickly. I have had several trucks over my lifetime with the last 3 being Tundras, 2007, 2016, 2021 for a reason....I like these trucks. Thanks for the pics....it looks sharp with those painted tow hooks!

Not gonna lie, I absolutely loved the addition of the blue painted tow hooks. I did it initially cause it was cheap and I wanted to do something. But every time I walked to the truck from the front you can see the color peaking out at you and it just made me smile. Really added a lot for how simple it was.
I just used some Rustoleum 2X primer and paint followed by their clear. I never attached anything to them but that combo worked well and no issues after a year.

Make sure you check the frame where they mount. I had some minor surface rust that I wire wheeled and then just sprayed with black Rustoleum.

Man that looks awesome too! Perfect color of blue too....now I'm struggling on which way to go. I really like how the red stands out but that blue will look good on my silver metallic 1794 as well.
Where did you get the blue grill emblem?
Thanks to both you guys for posting pics....I'm definitely doing it once I decide on the color:cheers:

If you have the red sway bar and other red accents, I'd say go with red hooks to tie it together. If that is not the case, go blue! So many folks have done the red.
The grille emblem was a vinyl overlay. Unfortunately its no longer sold from a Cease and Desist from Toyota, same reason steering wheel emblems are no longer sold by companies. Some folks have just put dark tint over the entire grille emblem (the whole oval) which works pretty well and I haven't seen reports of it negatively affecting the sensor.

Thanks man....I don't have any plans to add sway bar or other lettering at this time and your right about there being a lot of red out there....Blue may win out for sure

0FA1FB2F-0B9A-4181-9383-62AD61FE1AC9.jpg These big things make it look like it’s on casters!!!:) also have a picture of the stock ones that are grey but you can’t see them very well. I do not know if these will fit with the TRD front skid but I am fixin to find out. If not the stock ones will be touched up and reapplied.

I know they're not, but in the pic., your tow hooks look like they are part of the front sway bar! Optical illusion.

Just rattle-can spray painted mine with Rustoleum red (cherry red I think - don't recall exactly) Nice contrast I think on the 040 white trucks:
