I do not like the 2022 models or the V6 Twin turbos, i just don't think you will get as many miles out of them as you did the V8 before you need repairs and all that to save 1 MPG no thanks.

I keep my trucks, i still have my 1997 Tacoma that i bought new it turns 25 tomorrow! Even if i bought the Tundra i would keep my Tacoma.

I just feel like this is my last chance to get a V8 Tundra new and if i do buy it would probably be my last truck as it is over $50k it would need to last 25 years!

I like the looks of the 22 better, but if I wanted it to last 25 years the 21 may be the safer bet. If I was able to get a decent deal on a 21 I'd buy that over a 22 @ msrp.

Back in the 80s in Houston they busted a number of dealers for listing vehicles and when you show up it would not be there?? Just saying???:)

It’s frustrating I wasted 2 1/2 hours. They didn’t try to sell anything else though.

2022 models are maybe the ugliest truck I've ever seen......buy the 2021 if you can and get a transmission cooler installed. So glad my 2013 is still going strong

I would've called before I went over there. I think at this point you're probably going to be running up against the clock trying to find the last of the 21's out there on lots.. I'd start calling all over the place.

yeah live and learn so after doing more research it seems that the truck i went to look at does have a recall as i looked up it's VIN it has something to do with the power steering fluid leaking and there is NO fix for it yet.

So maybe they are not allowed to sell it like that.

There's a defect with the power steering rack IIRC, and rhey are working in a fix that I think is supposed to be completed by February or released by February.

@empty_lord or @ViktorG might be able to tell you more than me. Should also be a few threads on the subject also.

The dealer wouldn't tell me much anything. Just that the truck was not even there, i could wait till then but they didn't even offer a way to hold the truck for me.

There are few 2020s in one of those threads too. There are links to an active recall on powersteering racks in there.

I was looking over them so maybe the dealer is not such a A$$ then still would like to put a hold on the truck so no one else can buy it is that something dealers don't do in this situation since there is no real ETA on a fix?

My '12 is still strong and about to roll to 62k shorty. If I could find a a 20 or 21 for a decent deal, I would consider upgrading. Definitely don't want a 22 though, too new and ugly.

It's frustrating i finally came to terms with spending 50k on a truck and i can't even buy what i want.

I paid 16K for my brand new V6 Tacoma in 97 lol

Where are you located? The dealer by me has a platinum for sale on their website. AutoNation Toyota Tempe, AZ. Not sure what it's status is but just noticed it on their website this morning.

I'm in VA the dealer that i went to said that he didn't like the new 22 models or the no V8 option. He was 70 miles from me. There other dealers in VA with the truck i want but they all are not allowed to sell them.

I guess i will call my local dealer and see if he can get me one not sure if they can do that but they have more resources than i do.

Everyone who wants a 2021....be prepared for the 'market adjustment'.....

I can not imagine the person or persons at Toyota that thought this design was a winner

The dealer told me the 22 model was $10,000 more even my wife does not like the new look she said it looked like a fisher price toy she also wants me to just get a RAM.

I do think it's ridiculous that i was ready to drop 50k and toyota could not help me out. I guess with the market they don't care.

I think if you go for a ‘20-‘21 model you can’t go wrong… they made several upgrades to those models and (I think) perfected them. Supposedly there are a lot of ‘21s still out there for sale you just may need to travel out of your state to get it but you may be able to find a 2020 with low miles from someone who opted for the shiny new ‘22 and there were no changes other than the LR color. Good Luck!!

Long live the V8 and the 2.5Gen
