just purchased a new 2017 Tundra crew max platinum 4x4 and to my surprise no towing mirrors are available for it. WHY WHY WHY.
You pay 53000 for the top ov the line Tundra which comes standard with a towing package yet no towing mirrors are available For this Platinum package.
I upgraded from an ST5 with tow mirrors which worked great.
Now because the Platinum has BSM, auto dim, turn signal, heated, auto fold and memory. Toyota does not offer compatible Tow mirrors. How hard is it to scale up the standard tow mirrors to fit the Platinum?
I am very disappointed in the idiot who made this decision. The factory tow mirrors are already 900.00. So why can they upgrade them with the full Platinum package and charge a little more. This is a big Safety Issue. If you include a tow package with the vehicle it should come with tow mirrors.
If anyone knows of any after market tow mirrors which have all the functionality let us know.

I have the 1AAuto tow mirrors on a 2013 Platinum. You lose puddle light and auto dim but keep memory, heat, power fold, turn signal. 1A also has ones with BSM for the newer trucks. They have the extra light for parking light (running light) but it does not work with Platinum (known issue). I like them but my passenger side does have some play in it with bothers me a bit. By play I mean where it folds it has movement. Really thinkkng about getting a replacement as they have a lifetime warranty. I really wanted to keep the power fold feature but not pay $800 for OEM. Mine were $360 or so.

I'm not sure why Toyota doesn't include the tow mirrors with the platinum trucks. There has to be a reason, but why?

$53k huh? These 1/2 tons are getting spendy.

I have the power folding, auto dimming, auto adjust, heated tow mirrors from Toyota. I did loose the BSM but the blind spot mirror keeps me out of trouble. They were expensive and the parts manager saying they won't fit. Direct fit, plug and play.

These have to be aftermarket that the parts manager found somewhere, because I'm sure @Roman will confirm that these features don't exist on a OEM tow mirror. With that being said, if you have tow mirrors with auto dimming and memory, please let us know where they can be acquired, because I can splice in an LED as a workaround for the BSM.

To my knowledge, there is no auto dimming tow mirrors with memory from Toyota.

The stock platinum mirrors are heated, built in turn signal, and power folding?

Will they plug right up into a 15 SR5? Cracked a mirror a while back and would like factory mirrors w turn signals

Lots of people lament lack of BSM. For a straight-up plug and play Tundra style towing mirror, there is this one which has heat, power mirror, memory, blinkers, marker (running) light. But the running light may not work plug-and-play (it does not for my 2008 Limited) because your harness may not have that pin populated.

    Part: https://www.1aauto.com/toyota-sequo...il-ridge-tr00114/i/1amrp01127?f=679036&y=2008
    Installation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfWNu4T8Jw8

Personally, I'm debating getting one of these new ones linked below. I'm pretty sure it's a new part since this thread was started 1.5 years ago, but 1aauto now has a Tundra compatible tow mirror that should work for power fold, heat, power mirror, memory, blinkers, marker (running) light, puddle light, and spotlight. Still no dimming nor BSM (I don't care about BSM, but I'd really miss the dimming).

    Part: https://www.1aauto.com/toyota-sequoia-tundra-mirror-pair-trail-ridge-tr10395/i/1amrp02081
    Installation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zyQsIM_IgWk

This video shows installing a mirror that's one step down from the linked part. In the Youtube comments, someone said that these look like Chevy tow mirrors, so I'm guessing they took the existing Chevy tow mirrors, modified it with a Toyota mounting base and wiring harness, but used a Toyota compatible power folding piece. WRT the Tundra Limited, the runnings lights won't work out of the box, but this mirror claims "Installation kit included for the spotlight upgrade and marker light wiring". In the video, he does clearly state that if you already have factory power folding that it will work without additional wiring. If you didn't have power folding, they include a wiring kit for it. The bright spotlight is not something that Toyota normally has, so they provide the wire and switch for it. The youtube video shows how to install it, it's an hour long and is pretty good detail of showing all the pieces to remove. Several items in the list for this have "Upgrade" in the description. In my case with a Limited, the only thing I would have to add would be the marker light wiring (video doesn't show that part).

Most people would probably think this is minor, but it it really bugs me that on tow mirrors the passenger side mirror is always flat. It makes things look closer than they really are. A little convex shape would be welcome, not as much as a regular set of mirrors, but a *little* bit, just enough to make it cover the same area that the driver side mirrors do. But I guess that's the intention of the second, manual, lower mirror.

I wish they had it in black too, I'm not a fan of the chrome trim.

Argh, it is frustrating that I can't get the right combo of features (I can make the second part work by adding wiring for running light, but the mirror itself doesn't have dimming capability). But the second part gets me the closest to what I'm wanting, so I'll probably go that route. Gonna save and google more before spending the money.

Very nice! I hadn't found those. Your links is the TR10394 which includes BSM (and upgrades for power fold and running lights if your truck doesn't have them, and an upgrade for spotlight which is always an upgrade since Tundras don't come with that). The TR10394 seems to specify only 2014-2017 year models, which excludes me. I compared them and saw that I posted the link to the TR10395, which is everything your TR10394 has but without the BSM.

Man, if we could just get the dimming function on these two models, we'd be set. The Chevy's do seem to have auto-dimming tow mirrors available, I guess we just need to ask TrailRidge if they would do a Tundra conversion of those mirrors with that function (assuming the tech, voltages, etc is the same).

What’s the purpose of the spot light? At first I thought it was the BSM indicator but I see there’s an amber light for that.

When I first put on tow mirrors I did miss the auto-dim function. However after a couple weeks I pretty much forgot that I even had the feature to begin with.

My thought - if you need tow mirrors you need them for a reason. Towing. All other features and nice to have and won’t help with towing. So find what you like the most and pull the trigger.

I got these in feb and install was straight forward- clearance lites are not native to the whole setup- you'll be on your own there as 1Aauto/Trail Ridge could care less.

Keep in mind, as far as I can determine, there are NO REPLACEMENT parts available for this product line!

Whereas OEM likely will have them for when you whack something with these much higher profile mirrors- 1Aauto/Trail Ridge fix is to offer to sell you a new, FULL set (that's it- thanks for doing business with us- now go away).

I have a 2017 Tundra 1794. I've been trying to find tow mirrors that retained all of the functions I currently have (Memory, Power Adj, Power Fold, BSM, Heat, Signal). Today I chatted with A1 and no Trail Ridge mirror will work because they are an option-for-option mirror. Essentially, Trail Ridge only makes power fold upgrade mirrors, and no option exists for a plug-n-play mirror with all the functions I have, particularly power fold.

Last year I tried a set from TopGearAutoSport.com. What a boondoggle that was! Installed the mirrors and my mirror control fried. Luckily I was still under warranty and Toyota replaced. TopGear wouldn't respond to return the product. Took me 3 months and multiple complaints to BBB to get them to accept the return. So I have been gun shy about getting new mirrors.

The OP is correct in that the mirror options on the Platinum and 1794 exclude them from any aftermarket tow mirror upgrade, and OEM tow mirrors will downgrade options. Again, I confirmed this with A1 auto. They referred me to partsgeek and ebay, but all I could find were the same products that TopGear and A1 sell which are non-compatible.

At this point, with the fuel economy, crappy towing, and lack of parts for the 1794, I may trade it in.

Yup, get’er ready for trade because ALL the competition has nicely met the need to tow todays stuff and efficiently too. So much so I’ll not be sad when my time comes. Time will tell if they got the Toyota reliability beat as well.

Avoid doing business with TopGear. I ordered mirrors from them and when I installed the plug-n-play mirrors, they shorted out my mirror control. Luckily I was still under warranty.
They would not give me a return item number until I made 3 BBB complaints, and complained to the California board of commerce. Even then, it took 3 months before they refunded my card. I had to dispute the initial charge to get them to refund.
Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. The mirrors were quickly removed from their website as I think there was a manufacturing flaw which was causing damage to vehicle systems.
My advice, use A1Auto. Very similar mirrors, but far better customer service.

Take a look at the gm style mirrors that @RainMan_PNW has and several others…they’re not cheap (but on par with Toyota OEM, and much nicer that Toyota OEM tow mirrors) and you can option them to keep all the platinum equipped amenities that yours have now. I don’t tow a long setup often enough to justify switching mine, so I just purchased the cheap extensions from KSource (81300) that snap onto my existing 1794 mirrors in the few times I need them.
