Battery dead after four days

2002 tundra V8 battery drain. What is a normal milliamp drain and what's not .. mine is dead in 4 days. Has new battery.

 

IiRC someone on here said something like 50 mA. Biggest culprit is usually aftermarket alarms/starters.

 

Compustar Remote Start and Alarm was killing the battery in my old 2002 Access Cab in two (2) days. Had it all removed and no more issues.

 

Have the new battery load tested, even brand new they can be bad, have a dead cell, etc.

 

Or the door switches.

 

Previous owner of mine had reported the same thing. I couldn't find the battery drain.

One post on here recommended turning off the headlight switch as the relay sometimes drains the battery. Not sure if it's true, but haven't had a problem since. Could be a poor connection or corrosion, but it stopped so I don't see a need to dig into a 20-year-old truck to find out exactly why.

My next step was to replace the battery cables as it looks like they are prone to internal corrosion after so many years of use.

Relatively easy to find the battery drain. Many threads on here discussing this.

 

My old Gmc truck inside lights would stay on for 1 min , after you left the truck. The time delay was built in to the head light switch. It went bad, so my inside light would stayed on all the time, draining my battery. After replacing the $85 switch, no more problems. That was 25 years ago.

 

Do you have an alarm system or remote start connected?

 

Do you know how to test for parasitic draw? It's really easy. This entire video will help you diagnose and teach you new stuff, but around the halfway point (18m30s, roughly) they start talking about how to diagnose parasitic draw using a multimeter:
