What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Still not 100% on where these are at. Passenger side follows the angle of the lower housing of the headlight, driver side is still rotated despite looking pretty good on the aiming front. It's pouring here so got a chance to see how the defenders LTX m/s tires do in the rain (pretty solid!) while I got the M/T tires sold this morning. The entire gasket of the shell seems like it needs to be redone because my bed is soaked. That's a job for another day. Nice to have a bit of my garage back since there are not 5x 285/70R17 M/Ts in there now.

 

How they shine is important, not how they look in the bowl.
You’d basically need to rotate the shroud, which the lenses would need to be opened to get everything straight

 

Err on the low side, cause i dont care if the brights are on or not. Too bright is too bright.


People have 5-1000 after i shut my brights off.

Changed out the two cracked door handle bezels with these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/143256610981 . Be sure to not over tighten the screws on these, looks like the reason my old ones broke. Swapped out my reverse bulbs with these:

Added a dab of dielectric grease on each. Looks like my tail light housings have a broken bolt tab on each side, not sure if I will repair, run, or eventually replace them. Last thing I did was pull my number one plug to check the condition and brand. I was worried they might be something generic because the new coils are unmarked. Turned out to be Denso iridium plugs and they looked good!

 

I had scored a fog light switch back when I had a stock bumper with no fogs. With the new bumper I have all this empty space that needs something there. Decided I will get some 4 inch amber led fogs ( I like the look) and mount them to the frame where the original bumper bolted up. So I installed the dash switch and relay and had no power to the fog harness and when I pushed the switch on my brights would go on? LED headlight issue maybe? Did the anytime fog light mod and now have power to the switch when any light is on. Just have to decide on some lights now. Not wanting to spend over $100.

 

How'd you do your anytime fog mod? Pics? There are a few varieties that I've seen, and not sure what to go with... as far as your lights... there are plenty of suggestions in this thread.

I have a 2001 AC with LED headlight bulbs. Unplug the harness from the switch. Cut the red with yellow tracer about three inches from the plug. Tape off the harness end. Cut the green wire. Strip the ends of both cut green wires and the red cut wire and tie them together. Turn your park lights on and you should have power to the harness.

trying to install the katzkin heater element. The instructions suck as to where you can cut. I assume I can cut some small spots for the hog rings on the bottom pad?

 

My installers cut a giant slot. Not that I'm happy about it, nor have I tested to see if they even work, but they seem to be doing a bunch of these so?

 

the issue I ran into is that I need the cut close to the edge but it says you can't cut within 1 5/8" of the edge but I think I made it work. My old cloth also had a u shaped hammock piece that the metal bars slid into, the new seats have a plastic piece on the fabric so I guess I just push the hog ring through the fabric above the plastic piece where I need to and throw away the old metal bars...

Honestly, imperfection of the beam pattern is not visible on the road. On mine the driver side is slightly clocked wrong but I can only tell when parked totally flat and aiming at a wall(which is never). When I'm driving it isn't visible. Don't sweat it, you're close enough.

 

Thanks, I think I needed to hear that. I still am undecided on the all white vs. amber setup up front. The nice thing is that I have both pairs of bulbs and its a 5 mins swap out if I change my mind. But I think I'll keep it as-is. I have to attack the waterproofing of the camper shell this week before I start building out the storage in the bed. I need to do a bit more research on the best practices here and I want to order a fresh set of clamps from snugtop so I can have 6. If anyone has recommendations or what product has worked well for them, it would be much appreciated. I plan on removing the shell, turning it upside down on my driveway with some help and applying a gasket to the underside with some RTV silicone as well. I know I also have to do the tailgate gap as well. The front of the bed is leaking a lot, but yesterday with all the rain it seemed like it was leaking from everywhere.

That's a keeper! I wish I still had them but I drew one just like that in high school. My chemistry teacher grabbed it off my desk and told me "that's very cool, but keep dreaming, you'll never own one that cool".

yep, it’s the mother-in-law’s. Doesn’t get much use, but it was an anniversary gift from my late father in law, so it sticks around for sentimental reasons.

My brother is a VW mechanic and I’m going to have him give it a freshen-up this spring. Needs brake work badly, and it starts like crap.

 

Brakes are cheap at least on those cars. The amazing thing about them is seeing them sit forever and with just a little bit of work they will fire up. They might not run right but they will run.
