What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

And be aware. These seem to line up as more of an AT/MT hybrid. They’re definitely more aggressive than your KO2s, Falken wild peaks, etc. they’re definitely a little louder than wild peaks too. Not much, but noticeable.

 

How do you like them in winter?
Most of the tires I've been looking at are 3peaks rated. I'll be driving whatever I get on wintry freeways and surface streets. Around here, that's basically offroad, but with some ice. (Indy roads are straight out of warzones)

 

can’t say much yet. As we haven’t had any lasting snow. I drove it off road in about 4 inches once, and they did fine. No hard pack or ice yet.

door panel clips. Fixed the broken one behind the rear seat. 24 more for the future. New gas prop struts make all the difference. I had thought those switches looked pretty deep, but they are cut-to-length.

 

where did you source your constant 12v from? asking for a friend.

 

Ran a wire from the battery with an inline fuse. Followed the wiring harness under the frame next to my backup camera cable. Came up through the rear driver's taillight and through the bed. Ground is behind the taillight as well. And then t-tap off the brake light. I only have a 16 ga wire right now. Will likely re-run an 8 or 10 with a fuse block back there for more options in the future.

Exactly. That's what I'm going to do too. This works for now until I figure out what I am going to do for my camper build-out. Some of the battery packs are getting so reasonably priced and small, that I may just run something

like this for electronics, although I'd have to figure out a way to charge it. Not sure. Haven't really gone there yet, still just clicking through my to-do list on the truck itself.

 

I have 2 10ga constant 12v running to the back. 1 for my trailer plug, and 1 for my reverse lights and bed power.

both come straight from the battery

 

Ive got some ancient 18ah Duracell jump starter that has a 120v outlet, (2) 12v, a compressor and a few usbs that I keep in the camper at all times. I’ve been able to run a little usb fan for 3 nights without it dying. If I’m in between camp sites or will be on the road for a bit, I plug it in to a female cig plug in the shell that I wired to ignition at the trailer harness. That way it’s recharging during down time and if I ever accidentally leave it plugged in it won’t kill my starting battery.

These new lithium power packs seem to have waaay more aH and are built for more charge cycles.

I’ve thought about solar and doing a few lithium cells but it just seems like it would be one of those projects that was more fun to build than it is to use.

 

I have a 100 watt solar panel on my shell charging a little lithium battery. For me its the bees knees. I can run my fridge, multiple lights I have placed all over the camper, a couple fans in the summer and charge any phones or camera batteries I need and its always there ready to go at all times. Zero worry about running down my main battery and its just so convenient. For camping, I seriously wouldnt do it any other way. Used this on my last truck for 5 years and now 3 years on my Tundra. All works perfectly still, but I did upgrade my battery to Lithium last year. They are so much smaller and lighter!

 

I really like my Cooper AT3xlt. I've had em about 3 years and use em on and off road. They're quiet too

There is a pair of SCS Stealth 6s available locally -- 17 x 8.5 -10s. Seriously tempted to grab them and get rid of the spacers.

 

Definitely pick those up. Those things are never in stock!!

I wouldn't recommend them. They're pretty bad quality, especially if they're bronze. Post a link to the add and I'll do some qc on them.

Yeah, any of the SCS wheels are perfect for these trucks. Also went with 17x8.5 -10s. Although I say go with the copper!

 

Love everything about this. Tires look perfect with the 285/75R17.

Not sure I have that much space with my current suspension setup. Love your build.

 

Heres a couple shots of the wiring for my battery and solar panel. I have the lights on a dimmer but can also turn the 2 side ones off individually so they dont all have to be on.

Very cool! I recently put together a Renogy controller for my setup and it works great. I need to figure out a good place to hard mount it though.

 

FINALLY got my front windows tinted. They were just factory tint before someone broke into my truck this summer. Replacement window was a bit tinted so I had 3 different tints on the 4 windows. Got that tint removed and closely matched the rears so it’s more uniform and people can’t easily see me picking my nose in traffic haha.

Rears were and still are the same 30% I think?

Im in need of tint, but i guess it keeps my inside window track clean. I really like the metallic tint on grandma’s ‘02 rx300 (blue, not gold) so i kinda want to do that with the sides, but since this is texas, im also thinking hard about that clear ceramic windshield tint. And dark mirror on the back glass.

 

Has anybody had to work on the HVAC blend door? My actuator works just fine, but the door itself either doesn't fully seal. I can feel cold air coming from it when the heat is on.

How do I remove the tubing that's in the way to access it?

I've ordered powder coat for my wheels that supposedly matches the Toyota 1G3 Magnetic Grey color. In the below photo, I attempted to render something of a representation of the color onto my wheels.
Do you guys think it would be a sin to also powder coat the bumper the same color? I've never seen a white and grey combo on these trucks.
