I have one, an Everlast 211 or something like that. It works great. I'm hoping some day to have the time to become competent at tig, likely never gonna use the stick. I've got a friend who used the Yes welder and said, "if you can't lay dimes with this welder, you shouldn't be welding."

What are the outlet requirements (voltage/current)?

I am going to weigh my truck again tomorrow. My work has truck scales that weigh each wheel. Does your truck need to go on a diet like mine? If you're interested to know how much your truck weighs, then you can swing by my work (in SJ near the airport) and get weighed while I have the equipment out. I'll be out there at noon.

I'm bringing all of my camping and offroading gear so that I can weigh my truck in different configurations: daily driver (no gear just tools), offroad day trip (DD + spare parts, extra equipment, cooler, etc.), then the multi-day trip with everything.

I got the Vulcan Omnipro 220 and love it. Not sure your power availability, but you should really look at the 120/240 dual power. 120 doesn’t do as much as you think it does.

Found out the hard and annoying way that those spring compressors you rent at Orielly suck balls - like real big ones! Now I have to take the whole thing to a shop, just to adjust the driver side preload to level it out to compensate for all the additional weight on the driver side.

    That’s a ton of preload.

I tried messing around with those spring compressors once before realizing it wasn't going to work. It's almost like a rite of passage on here

I don't know as much about the newer trucks and stuff... so please pardon my ignorance if this doesn't apply. The adjustment collar on my Kings have a similar design; when I'd try to adjust the preload with them on the truck, my tools would contact the UCA and make it impossible to turn. If I disconnect the spindle from the LBJ, I can jack the spindle and UCA up by the lugs and get them out of the way, then get my tools on the shock to turn the collar.

Of course this doesn't work for fine tuning the height where the pinch bolt might be hidden on the frame side of the shock tower...

That picture shows 3” but it was originally at 3.5” and I’m trying to get to 4”. When I loosened the collar it jumped the thread.

That makes sense and should be applicable to my truck except I don’t have the spanning tool  I read somewhere I could turn the collar with basically a screwdriver in the holes - NOT. Too much preload, too much tension.

Alcan Springs ordered. Getting 6" of lift and the Orbit Eyes at the rear for additional flex. My truck is 1350lbs over stock weight :hungry: when in my off-road/daily driver configuration. Hopefully this is my last set of springs otherwise I'll move onto 3" wide springs.

I thought what he was getting at was that for 3 inches of lift, you're not supposed to be much over "insert set amount of threads or inches here". Basically if you want 3 inches of lift, it's not 3 inches of threads showing, that would have way too much preload

I have a 7” lift up front :D My coilovers originally came with 3.5” of thread showing so since it’s sagging on the driver side, adding more preload should level it out.

I recently reached out to Alcan about the possibility of them building me a set of SOA 3" leafs, they're open to it. I sent Bruce (@papasmurf) a message on IG about the leafs but never heard back. When I pull the trigger I'll probably find someone local to build the mounts for me.

When I was looking into the 3" springs I found these. You can specify 3.5" axle tube to support 3" wide leaf spring U-bolt eliminator kit.

What was your leaf question? Asking because he’s never offered leafs, only let people know that Deaver agreed to produce them for this upgrade. It’s cool if Alcan will as well.

I asked if he ever followed thru with making the SOA kit for 3” leafs, I know he wasn’t making the leafs but the thread died off with him needing a test vehicle for the SOA kit. Sounded like Deaver didn’t want to make the 3” leafs for SOA.

Yes, this is my understanding as well— so if Alcan is willing to make them, and you’re ready to commit, it could be a break-through. I’d suggest you PM Bruce on here, or PM me and I’ll get you in touch offline. (I’d have PM’d you with this, rather than continue to hijack Cruzer’s thread, but I figured others will want to know progress as well.)

… Now back to your regular scheduled Bad-Ass Monster Truck Thread….

I was wondering the same thing about the status of 3” SOA springs on Bruce’s thread and ended up asking Alcan about them. Great minds think alike

You might wanna contact Kyle Green. He's in Az but he's made several sets of hangers and shackles for the 3" leaf packs (Deaver 420s). Kyle builds trophy trucks too and everything is tig welded. Might be a lot easier with a better chance of success to just order from him.:notsure:
