I'm curious if anybody has first-hand experience with a remote mobile DVR module. Now that I have a functional Front Camera up and running, I'm going to start looking around for a good DVR option to add. I know there are some mobile cameras with built-in recording functions, but I just need a stand-alone DVR unit.

I've found some interesting options with units designed for Drone video recording, but I'm still researching.

If you're set on actually inserting discs then go for it. If you have DIRECTV then i have another option you might want to look at. We call it a mobile DVR but it's actually an app that pulls your home recordings to play on any device that can transpose over to your head unit. Pretty slick setup....but you have to have DIRECTV

By the way...this is not a shameless plug because i work for them. It's just a helpful trick for those with DTV service already

Actually, I can already do this with my latest mod. What I'm looking for is a DVR to record my front camera live video.

That's pretty slick. How do you mirror the signal? Bluetooth or wired through USB?

Was this an aftermarket application? you said something in the video about "i wired up the...."

HAHA That's what I was going to suggest! It's done through my FRAC-AV harness design. You can review the whole thread if you're interested in how it was done.

Do you know if the harness is FRAC-AV is compatible with most phones. I have a locked down company issued Samsung NOTE 4 that cannot access apps due to the proprietary information that is hackable. Does your mobile device require something downloaded to it? If so, then i'm not able to go this route. if it's just the screen mirroring without download then i'm gonna have to do this

Thanks, but the AV is the piece you're asking about... There is no "app" or software required. This is a strictly hardware solution.

All you need is a composite audio video source. So if you can buy and adapter cable to plug into your Samsung and covert the video output to composite, then this mod will work for you.

Sure was. I didn't read your mod write up and only captured bits and pieces. Your mod was referring to lots of pieces, primarily the front camera actions. LOVE IT.

I have the a/v sources. I was just under the assumption of something very entry level compared to what youve accomplished.

Once again....GREAT WORK! Super cool idea though i'm not looking for front camera action. Entirely too much snow for me to use it about 7 months out of the year. It's a full time job just cleaning of headlights, windshields, and fog light.

    Fantastic skills by the way!!

Thanks for the kind comments @Almaboy. Your questions made me realize that I didn't document the AV connection part of this very well. I just fixed that with a post in my original thread here

Hope that clears things up a bit.
