OK... next step was to find a place for the two switches needed for the mod. The switches were mounted in blank switch hole covers. Here's the camera select switch and the blank before and after mounting in the blank spot above the brake controller. The cam select switch is an "on-off-on" Single-Pole-Double-Throw (SPDT) switch.

...And here is the VIM inhibit switch - installed in the lower center console. It's a Philmore SPST mini-rocker (PN 30-16605) that I bought from an auto-supply store.

And now to finish the front Camera installation. Post #15 shows how I mounted the Camera in the front Grill. Once that was completed, I routed the video/power wiring through the firewall boot and the Entune compartment.

    IMG_2427.jpg

The camera cable included the Video + and - lines and the power and ground wires. I connected the ground wire to a grounding point in the engine compartment on the inside of the passenger side quarter panel (next to the air filter box). Note the RCA plug connection in this picture. It's not labeled but is wrapped with red shrink-tube now. This is where I may add a DVR in the future. It would continuously record the front camera video.

    IMG_2460.jpg

The camera cable had a pre-installed RCA video connector. The bad news is that the connector is too big to fit through the firewall boot nipple. No pics of this, but I had to cut the harness in half, route the cut harness through the boot, and reconnect (solder) the lines on the other side.

OK, now the fun stuff. I removed the Entune unit from the dash to access the rear harness. The factory harness is long enough to allow the radio to be rested on the dash
    .IMG_2492.jpg

J135 and J136 are the connections that will be used for this mod.
    IMG_2494-A.jpg

First, I removed the factory harnesses from J135 and J136, then plugged them into the FRAC-AV harness, and then inserted the FRAC-AV Harness plugs into the entune connectors.
    IMG_2496.jpg

Now we've got to make all the other connections. I use a 24-inch tie wrap as a "snake" to help route wires behind the dash.
    IMG_2506.jpg

    Everything is finally connected here...
    IMG_2524.jpg

... tidy up the switch lines and the harness...
    IMG_2518.jpg IMG_2525.jpg

And now the moment of truth. Everything was connected, I've double-checked the harness wiring against my schematic, I've re-traced all the schematic wiring to make sure everything makes sense... There's nothing left to do but power up the Entune unit and pray that no smoke leaks out!

And here is the first good indicator... The Entune powered up and the "Aux" menu option is active. This tells me the audio portion of the AV mod is correct...
    IMG_2522.jpg

Then I scrolled over to page 2 of the Audio Source menu. And...
    IMG_2523.jpg

SUCCESS!!!! The previously hidden "A/V" menu selection is available. The Entune unit recognizes the new video lines.

Next... we'll see how the FRAC portion of the mod worked....

Thanks for the kind comments, guys. I'm editing another video that will explain how the FRAC-AV harness works. Hope to have that finished this evening.

That video would be great , wiring is not my strongest suit. Or consider selling pre made ones? And what exact camera did you get? The old link takes to a general page

I saw that someone found a harness that plugs into the existing harness to eliminate the need to cut the factory wiring. and it leaves a few options for hdmi, cameras , etc.

I guess I didn't say that in my earlier posts, but that's exactly what the FRAC-AV harness does.

Awesome piece of work. Don't see this kinda work too often. Would you consider selling the harness? That's the toughest part that I don't want to mess with...

I was so happy to get the FRAC-AV harness installed and working, that I forgot to document a few final important details. I mentioned the Apple Lightning Digital AV apdater in the first post of this thread, but I didn't document the rest of the adapters... so here is the rest of the story...

    IMG_2542.jpg

At the upper right of the picture is the Apple Lightning Digital AV apdater. The lightning connector plugs into my iPhone or iPad. The adapter converts the iPad/iPhone display into HDMI AV and runs through a standard HDMI cable to an HDMI to CVBS converter. That converter connects to the RCA composite cable coming from the FRAC-AV harness. Here's a video to walk through everything...

Yes sir. I got into it after I ordered that apps2car (Y-TYT02) adapter which worked out perfect. But with limited time I just wanted to get everything wired and make sure it is all working properly before I ran wires under the carpet and made it all finished.
So everything turned on and worked normal but I'm getting that annoying white noise. And when I turn up the volume (pretty loud) my mono channel amp is hitting protection mode when the bass hits hard. I'm guessing it's something to do with my temporary bad ground spot.
So for now I still have 2 amps and my big kicker L7 box taking up one seat in the back until I have more time to rewire and make a rear sub inclosure. But the sound is 1000 times better and just to add a little bass in the cab is night and day difference. Not so proud to share this setup but like I said it's temporary and I couldn't have done it without all your audio posts.

Anyone have any thoughts on this camera? I want something that has IR (Night Vision) for the Front Camera and this seemed like a decent choice. I've got a PRO Grill so I can't use the emblem mount camera. I saw the other cameras used but I didn't want to rely strictly on my headlamps and Flood light because I may need to see in the dark without using visible light and I figured the IR was an inexpensive way to do that for now.

From reading the Amazon description and user reviews, two things jump out at me. First, There is no indication that this can be used for Forward viewing. It's specifically called a rear view camera (i.e. mirror image) and there appear to be no options to set it for forward use. Also according to user comments the guidelines can't be turned off.

I would not choose this camera. Just my $0.02.

    Tex
