+100. I figured this out yesterday. If you're getting anywhere near a loaded SR5 it makes more sense to jump to a Limited because the price difference is about $1500 and you get wireless charging, JBL sound, soft touch surfaces, etc etc. I've already told my sales guy I want to switch to a Limited after being pretty set on an SR5

I wonder if your numbers work out the same for a doublecab? Has anyone priced a completely loaded limited? I seen with everything basically the sr5 is like 61k? That’s including all the crappy dealer add ons.

limited starts at 7k more then the sr5.

I can dig the logic to upgrading to the Limited.

    But the TRD Sport package>all

I have no choice but to go SR5. I will not be regretting my choice.

If anyone is interested they are currently using a 2022 Tundra PRO as a pace truck in the NASCAR race in Phoenix tonight.

If Toyota is going to price the TRD Pro above Platinum and 1794, it better comes with memory seats, ambient and footwell lighting.

I’m not sure what you all were expecting but new turbo engine, new gadgets and new model will always jump in price. Seems like the ones complaining about price were expecting to pay the same price as a 2021 for the 2022 redesigned tundra.

I knew there would be a significant price jump from 2021-22. Toyota even made 7-10% jump in price from a 2019-2020 tundra TRD pro.

The good thing is I bought a 2021 TRD PRO at MSRP so if the new 2022 TRD PRO gets a 10-20% price hike I’m good since people are getting offers for 10K over stocker for a 2021z

So it's still decontenting the SR5 either way.

Is remote connect mean remote start? It is listed as a one year trial period. What is the going rate after that? TIA.

Everyone here is throwing out MSRP. Sorry, but if you pay MSRP you're loco (except maybe right now when there's a shortage, I'll give you that).
You can easily get any vehicle (except for high end luxury/sports) at invoice or less if you are patient and know what you're doing.

It's remote start, navigation, and unlimited data. I believe it's $16 a month. You can search for it on toyotas website

Does anyone know if the Tundra has parking sensors? I didn’t see that being mentioned anywhere.

That may be a long time in the future. With the current chip shortage and now the upcoming magnesium shortage things are predicted to get worse. Manufactures are making boat loads of cash right now with the high demand and high vehicle prices. No really reason to put out buying incentives when your selling every unit as soon as it hits the lot.

You are both correct but it does bother me that people seem to be using language that suggests MSRP is the new "good deal." It is not. The higher ups at the dealers will lie to your face and even their own salespeople insisting they don't make that much on new cars but nothing can be farther from the truth. Invoice is a myth - just as much profit is hidden in the bonuses we'll never see. The ONLY weapon we have in our arsenal is to NOT BUY until the price is right. It's going to be real bad even if everything returns to normal tomorrow because the dealers are getting so used to not negotiating and adding bullshit fees that they won't ever want to go back. All they will want to do is tell you they're better than the other dealer down the road because they're not marking it OVER sticker. Inventory is low and there are issues but the cow is being way overmilked (and we're the cow). Plan on walking out and waiting for a call. Yes, it's a pain but it will pay off for you and everyone else.

Anyone have an idea how much one of these turbos would cost to replace?
Most estimates have turbos lasting 150,000 miles. I’d like to keep this truck for many years and probably put 250,000-300,000 miles on it. But if a turbo replacement is $6000-$8000 halfway through its life, potentially x 2 that’s a big kick in the A$$.

I wouldn't even go into a dealership. Email all the ones you're willing to travel to asking what their best price is and pit them against each other until you get the lowest possible price. There's a really good thread here on how to do it.

I could have sworn there was a thread here on the cost of turbo replacement vs the fuel savings showing you still come out ahead with the new Tundra but I can't find it now.

I wanna say @ColoradoTJ the ban hammer himself was having the discussion with another member.

I think TJ's main point was that turbos are cheaper than folks are guessing and the maintenance wouldn't be astronomical.

I recall that discussion in the original 2022 thread but I thought there was a standalone thread as well.

I've been shopping for a second vehicle for the past 2 months. All of the conventional rules are out. It's a friggen nightmarish, wild-ass zoo out there right now. Dealers are misrepresenting inventory and are flat out refusing to discount the vehicles below msrp. With the inventory, they're putting it on their website the moment they get a VIN so you might think they have a lot. Then others are leaving cars that ARE in stock as "in-transit" either because they're too lazy to update the site (or understaffed) but more likely they are trying to make it seem more desperate than it is. One Honda dealer near me told me the car I was calling about was being unloaded right then and tried to make an appointment for me to go see it. The same store said the same thing a full week later on the exact same car. Wild-ass zoo.

Who is “most”? The only people I have seen say that are those that own the current v8 and really wanted another v8.

Google:) just me researching how long should a turbo last. Common number that pops up is 150,000 miles. We have 3 expedition twin turbos at work but we dump vehicles before the 150k mile mark. Lots of electrical problems with the 2 - 2015s we have.

Getting everyone to hold off in buying a vehicle would definitely work but that's just not going to happen in the real world. There is enough money out there from people not spending it on other things that people are going to buy regardless.

Yep. The economy being so good for many years before 2020 has a lot of people with heavy pockets, and there’s enough suckers paying above MSRP that the new norm for a while will be at MSRP. Toyota was never a big discount company anyways. If you refuse to pay MSRP, that’s okay because there’s plenty of others willing to.

I don't think Ford electrical problems should be used to estimate the life of turbos in a Toyota.

If anything, I would expect it to decrease the payload as it could increase the curb weight and wouldn't change the GVWR (which is based on a lot of factors other than suspension).
