8k to replace the entire exhaust? With what, pure silver? That's fucking outrageous!

Exhaust: they reccomended replacing the entire exhaust with OEM at a cost of $8,000. Wasn't too keen on that. I agree it needs to be replace, but not through them.

If I'm doing the entire exhaust, I could go with long tube headers for a little extra grunt. I'm not sure what it would cost to have an exhaust shop do the exhaust from the headers back to the exit.

Not sure what direction I want to go. OEM like, or straight pipes or...

A bridge to be crossed later.

That's the route I would take at this time. Getting the truck solid and in reliable running condition would be my priority. Exhaust can always be upgraded at a later date.

What about the rocker panel issue? What is your plan there?

Agree here. Swap all four 02 sensors for denso units. Are the rear ward oxygen sensors screw on or bolt on?

Both of mine on the V6 bolt on with two studs which can be seen below.
    upload_2021-11-3_18-6-54.jpg
    upload_2021-11-3_18-7-11.jpg

Whoever puddlefucked the exhaust bungs went with all screw in bungs. If the rearward ones BOLT on originally, I can get another set of foulers like the one above I used on the V6.

Guess I could order the densos and find out for myself. Later date. Need to recuperate funds.

Parts should be arriving at Swope tomorrow. Glad that the 4WD is getting taken care of, but the tech said there is always a chance that something else in the 4WD is gone or on the way out. I asked them to replace the ADD and diagnose any other issues with the 4WD. If the ADD doesn't fix it, let me know what's wrong, and I'll mend it myself.

If I need something else, I'll be contacting @rock climber again

Thanks. That's what I thought. The front two screw in. I already have a tap that I bought for for corolla.

So I've got the complete wrong rear sensors on it currently, but can be mended with foulers and correct sensors.

Price out just the cat's on a V8 - think it's about $3k for the two right now. NON-OEM tend to cause issues I was told.

Yeah, think I would've tried to pull and refurb or replace on my own, but at the same time, I get it.

    https://www.japanesetruckdismantling.net/

May try these folks for a used unit. Although I suspect you could potentially pull the same from car-part.com at least JTD gives a warranty.

Pretty sure you already know about this getup after the oil filter cooler debacle, so sorry for reposting.

That sounds about right. I wouldn't cheap-out on the cats because it would be a crap-shoot but I would consider a lesser-grade and quality of steel on the rest if I had to that I could get a couple of years out of.

Ky doesn't do any sort of emissions checking. While I get the reasoning behind cats and all that's a whole lot of money for new.

    Shit-chu right. :)

I'm not planning on catalytic converters yet. Gotta make sure it's gonna run with cheap foulrrs and stay in closer loop before doing any kind of restorative exhaust work.

To clarify, are they saying that your o2 sensors are what is causing it to not go closed loop?

Yes. I don't know what brand of sensors are on the truck, but I know they aren't right. Probably not even the right type of sensors in the locations.

Will get the right sensors, and foulers to make sure all is kosher with the computer, etc before proceeding with lengthy, costly exhaust work.

The sensors in the images you posted do look like Denso units.

They do, yes. If the rear ones on yours bolt on, mine should too. Which means my rear sensors are not correct.

Yeah, I believe they are Denso's but not the correct ones for your application. I'd hold on to them, they could be useful in the future.

Edit: As a matter of fact, with prices and scarcity being what they are right now, if you have the space I'd tell Swope's you want all your take-off parts back.

I told them when I dropped the truck off that I wanted all of my parts back so I could see they actually changed them out, and to have.

I don't believe the body mounts were bad, but it's free labor, and now I've got spares should I want to sell them or something. Lol

I'll keep the Oxygen sensors if they are a good brand, or test good. If they are no-name rainforest sensors I'll toss em. If I can cross reference fitment for the corolla or any of our vehicles, I'll keep em.

If it does come to that, the junkyard has multiple cats for $500 each with around 125,000 miles. So, two cats, and associated muffler and piping is probably under $1,800. Or go the full dirty deeds race exhaust!

Swope said they couldn't get the airbag module as it was discontinued. The only reason I gave them the green light was because I couldn't purchase it through my usual vendors. I was called today, and was told that it was discontinued and unavailable new. The tech did tell me how to replace it IF I could find one. He explained that it had to be this exact part number since my truck is a 2000. 89170-0C011

Summoning @rock climber to my rescue!

4WD: The front ADD did not fix it. Was definitely bad, and the techs noted it looked like somebody had been in the 4wd system fucking around with it. Since I'm not paying $900 for the airbag thing now, I gave them the green light to do additional diagnostics.
They did say they have mended those wires on that actuator box thingy I posted.

The truck is pretty much ready to go, and waiting on me to pick it up now except for the diagnostic on the 4WD.

Yes, either the person who stated that miscommunicated the information or didn't know what they were talking about. Mute point and irrelevant. You can use the part number that preceded it like I linked to above.

I've always wondered how that works. If I dealer misdiagnosis the cause of an issue, and it doesn't resolve the problem, are you still responsible for the charges?

For the diagnosis, I don't know. I am still paying for the ADD, and the labor because that's already been done.

Waiting on another diag for 4WD which should be done early in the AM.
