Even if you don't tow, it's a must have.

Just ordered my kit , can someone please provide some insight on the below

    1) when installing the thermostat , is it only the O rings from the spacer that needs to be replaced or also the ones on the puck

    2) when level check the fluid , you need to shift to all gears and reverse based on the install guide , do you need to do it once or keep doing it till it reaches 99?

    3) I have read couple of comments where the bottom bolt on the puck won’t thread and they had to replace it with the horn bolt , is it something common or expected with each install ?

    4) anyone tried running the hard lines without removing the skid plate or removing it is a must ?

The new T-stat brings new o-rings.

I ran through gears until it reached temp, including hopping into S and bouncing through the gears. Dunno if necessary but that’s what I did.

The horn bolt wasn’t for the puck. The horn bolt was up front, for the cooler itself. I had to use it on the lower most bolt for the bracket where the bracket bolts onto the truck.

Does the OBDFusion app with Toyota enhanced diagnostics allow the user to reset the transmission thermal degradation estimate?

I haven’t found an OBD app that allows for that. I’ve got myself a very basic Asus laptop with deleted WiFi card that runs Techstream.

You will probably need a 2.0.4 firmware cable that supports newer ECUs and live data.

I ran the hard lines without removing my TRD pro skid plate Is it a little bit tricky Yes but it can be done.

I shifted the transmission through all the gears a couple of times and then waited for attempts to reach 99° before checking fluid.

No issues with the bolts they line up right up it's an OEM part shouldn't be any problem.

When you remove the spacer the o-rings will be stuck to the side of the transmission take them off the thermostat replaces the spacer and has its own o-rings

    1) the orings from the spacer stuck to the mounting surface of the transmission when I removed the spacer. If this happens just ensure you remove them as the thermostat has its own orings. The puck reuses it’s orings.
    2) I had my wife continue to cycle through the gears til the pan temp reached 99f, maybe about 2 or 3 times.
    3) I did not have an issue with any of the bolts.
    4) I removed my RCI skid before install. Didn’t even look to see if it could be accomplished without removal. If anything it adds a little more clearance to roll around on the creeper.

To my understanding the thermostat switch opens at 195f. I assumed it would be triggered by the pan temp however it seems to be opening when the TC hits 195+. I only have a few country drives since installing the aux cooler but I haven’t been able to get the pan temp above 185f since install. Does anyone know the relation between the pan temp and TC temp in reference to triggering the thermostat? Just curious is all.

It's not a full open or full closed situation It will partially open similar to a thermostat in your cooling system.

I was told by my local dealer that the 2019 trans temp check mode was the same procedure as earlier models. I was not able to get it to work. The issue I had with using an IR thermometer on the pan is that I was seeing about 20+ degrees difference depending on where I was measuring temp.

Just got mine installed two nights ago. MHX-514

Had I not Stubbled across this thread I would have never thought about it being a problem.

Before I made any commitment to purchasing I got the obd reading process going to collect some data.
To my surprise the trans in my truck runs hotter than I expected or am comfortable with accepting.
I commute up and down a mountain 6 days a week and gain 3000ft elevation between 5500ft and 8500ft.
In the first week with ambient temps between 50-70° F the trans was peaking as high as 245°F and consistent in the 200-230°F range.
No load in the truck or towing during the data collection but the truck is on 37's.

After the install my peak temp at the TC has been 215° but briefly gets there before falling lower.
Very happy with this install. Thank you forum!

I'm would love a data sheet or something from the FSM showing the temperature range between close and fully open on the thermostat.

Also I found the install pretty easy, one thing that helped me fit the in/out lines from the cooler to the chassis mounted hard lines was removing the dust/dirt curtain by the strut. I was able to reach my right hand through and made it a little easier.

    Awesome!
Also that new peak temp is just the thermostat opening and working!
Mine seems to open around 190 and then settles the temp at 185. When I pinned it, the temp would never get above 175. Glad to hear its working for you!

Got my kit last Saturday , the cooler itself had a bent bracket , Nick shipped a brand new replacement after 5 min from when I sent the email.

Got the new one today and I started assembling the cooler kit and brackets , once I get some free time , will level up the truck and get everything installed .
Everything is premium and overall awesome kit and Nick is an awesome guy to deal with.

That's nuts! I hoped they'd last just a little longer. I'll have to get one a bit later and "settle" for my bed rack later this month. This is a screamin' deal and congrats to the lucky 5!

The software numbers listed on the OP. Are they for post install of a cooler or general for a Tundra?
