I have a 2003 AC 4WD 4.7L that I want to sound quite a bit louder. I'm a dumb 16 year old and would like to straightpipe it and be obnoxious(I live in a rural area it wouldn't bother anyone really) but my Dad won't let me. I want to have a much deeper, louder, and more aggressive sound than I currently have. I've looked through some threads but a lot of people want the sound reasonably not too loud, but I'm looking for pretty damn loud. Just looking for how to make it pretty loud but maybe not as much as a straightpipe or muffler delete. Any help would be appreciated

Or you did find it, and you want to be the obnoxious asshole virtually all non-car people hate, the guy who throws a glass pack on their truck so it gets lots of attention - the typical cringey garbage hormone-laden teenage boys tend to do, then regret later (trust me, speaking from firsthand experience here). I rib, but part of me is also, like, thirty people passed by my house already today with fart cans on their ricers or cherry bombs on their pickups and ... I'm trying to nap after an all-nighter, you know?

If you don't find what you want in that thread, you may want to look into swapping our muffler out for a glass pack (like cherry bomb or others). But man, if you do, I feel sorry for what you're about to inflict on everyone else around you who didn't ask for it. To me, throwing non-performance-increasing products on your truck just to pollute the planet with obnoxious noise is just as ignorant as rolling coal.

EDIT: If it's not clear, I'm a sarcastic, cantankerous SOB that means nothing but love, and enjoys trying to poke a laugh out of everyone.

 

Flowmaster Super 10 is about the loudest ‘muffler’ you can get.

 

If I just went with the Flowmaster super 10, would there be anything else I have to do to my exhaust? Maybe a tip or something? Still learning about all this stuff

 

Nothing wrong with doing a muffler swap and having a tip welded on. Just call any muffler shop / mechanic and they should be able to quote you over the phone. Heck, they might even have all the parts you need in stock already. If you want a dual exhaust look, you can get a SIDO (single in / dual out) muffler and they'll run the pipes for you. If you want to keep it simple, you can do SISO (single in / single out) and that will keep your pipes. A Flowmaster 10 series is your best bet but I recommend a 40 series for a good balance. Drone gets old fast.

 

I was gonna say just about any single chamber muffler, but Flowmaster always comes to mind first. I heard a 3.4 v8 SHO with those 10s on it and it was pretty damn loud.

I like the moroso spiroflow. Really made my moms ‘98 z28 sing. And she was only pissed for a couple weeks.

 

Take all of this part off from the clamp right behind the resonator and see if you hate it first. (Pic from another member)

When I got my truck all of this was missing (and still is). It drones pretty bad but my truck isn't a daily and it's tolerable most of the time. Theres nothing wrong with loud and rowdy just make sure and hang on to all the stock components.

 

Want loud? Sawzall and a metal cutting blade... right before the cats.

 

But, like, selle me the cats. I'll give you $100/ea shipped. Will help fund whatever goes in its place.

 

Sorry I've been neglecting this thread. Thanks for the heads on up the 40 series, could anyone tell me more about the 40 series vs 50 series or how bad the drone is with the super 10?

 

The louder/smaller/fewer chambers the muffler is, the more prone to drone it is. You really can't have loud without some sort of drone.

 

I'd say the 50 series has a deeper, more "big block" sound whereas the 40 series has a more aggressive, race car sound. Drone on a 40 series wasn't bad but you knew it was there. I couldn't imagine the drone on a 10 series.
