At 930 lbs PL, after adding 2 passengers at 350 lbs you would have only 580 lbs left to tow. My little 22' RV has a hitch weight of 650. I just never realized how much weight that extra bed length adds. NBD for me cause I couldn't deal with driving a truck that long anyway and it wouldn't fit in the garage.

 

@FO LO where did you find the pictures? I haven't seen shit about the 2022 DC. Like, 2 unofficial pictures.

Steel bed is heavy. I think people will appreciate the composite bed for its light weight. There isn't much downside with composite, gets possible payload up, better handling. Combined with rear coilsprings there's a lot of versatility for rear suspension combos.

I'm sure Toyota's stock rear springs will be soft, they have been on every Toyota I've owned. But it's easy to swap in stouter aftermarket rear coils to increase payload, get better handling.

 

You may think you're increasing the payload of your truck by modifying it, but ain't no one gonna sign off on it.

 

I should have said "cargo management ability". As soon as one mentions "increased payload" that triggers somebody.

Let's say stouter rear springs, something that stiffens the rear is a good thing. Is that agreeable?

 

I'm not "triggered", just pointing out that everyone's so hyper-focused on payload recently, if we're going to adhere to how an OEM arrives at their ratings, I think everyone can agree that in that mindset, we can't technically, officially, increase capacity.

I'm not so big on the ratings anyway as I often exceed them.

 

Being provided a correction that aligns with the actual facts should not qualify as "triggering". It's just somebody making sure that a newbie doesn't come in here and get the wrong idea about payload and how it works.

Can you do this with the DC?

 

Yep here is the 4th gen. 3rd gen wasn't aerodynamic enough

 

I would do anything to have this truck in my driveway.

 

They're pretty easy to find. Just lay down the $$$.

 

Have to be at work, don't have the software on my personal computer. Has there been a good side on shot for the DC? The ones I remember have been oblique which throws the measurements way off.

 

Angles are messed up on the 2.5 gen so had to calibrate to the front door assuming it is the same between CM and DC. 3rd gen is calibrated to 20" rims

The one you did previously (which is awesome) has smaller front doors on the 3rd Gen CM. Would it be better to calibrate off the CM doors instead of the rims, just to keep the scale correct?

 

So the front door is a little longer and the back door is the same. Thank goodness everyone was panicking about it...

 

They're a 1/4" different, put that down to me not picking the exact same pixel between them. And not like these are exact either, but just enough to show there's not huge differences in the 3rd gen.

There's some crazy optics that's for sure. I was expecting to see them be smaller, not equal or larger (scale and pixel picking issues means don't take these and make your own Tundra at home on these measurements )

Just measured my 19 D/C in the same location you have pictured, about an inch above the body crease I get 34 1/8 inches.

 

Matter of opinion honestly but I think the Gen3 looks better in just about every facet except for one. Why oh why did Toyota insist on these gawdy complicated odd shaped bumpers??? Seems like somebody from Lexus snuck over here and was like hey guys add some sharp cuts and weird geometry here here and oh here too, people will love it! I understand the aero aspect but they look disproportionate and because how they integrated the fender/flare/quarter panels aftermarket bumper options are likely to involve significant cutting. I'm sure with the forum confirmed $75k base price that is not something most will want to do...

The side profile is pretty nice. I initially thought the grill was hideous, but the front bumper might be worse
