    Trying not to mod it
Did an oil change. Had previously installed the fumoto valve, and it's fantastic. Once it got to a slow drip I closed the valve, wiped it up and went about the task of draining the stock filter housing.

This was the last time I'll have to deal with that mess, as I installed the Jowett Performance filter housing with its own fumoto style valve for draining. Oil changes will be far less messy now. :)

Link to a thread by @Inquiringone about the Jowett as he did it better than I could. :D https://www.tundras.com/threads/bil...-drain-valve-installation.65512/#post-1715777

Then I put some stuff together in an oil change box. The stock parts and filter tool are in the brown box, just in case, a spare filter, funnel, 2 1/2" socket for the Jowett, and 2 separate 24 inch hoses for the valves to drain oil cleanly. I lined it with shop towels for the minor mess of the funnels and hoses.

Labeled with a paint marker so it should be easy to find the two times a year I need it.

It's in the recall notice. If it has evidence of charring or melting, they will replace the headlight assembly.

No, it wired directly to my fuse block under the hood.

I'm still deciding going Duel or Portable Setup.

    Ouch! Not a mod I would recommend!:p

Since you are going to spend some cash on it anyway, you might want to evaluate whether you want to replace both mirrors with the larger trailer mirrors. There are some aftermarket mirrors that include most of the extra features.

Dont tow enough to make me want a set of tow mirrors. Like the current stock size

Will have to search to see all options I guess

Can’t seem to find any aftermarket side mirrors that have the auto-dim…

Yeah... first I've heard that. Is that like the mirror in the cab that dims in the evening so headlights aren't blinding?

that sucks…I have to power fold mine in/out every time I park in my garage (not that it helps you now)…Just a guess, but you can probably buy any of the Toyota housing models (i.e. one for an SR5) since the mirror/electronics are still intact on yours. Might be worth disassembling the mirror and housing to see how it fits and then just re-attach your components (ie power motor/electronics) in the less expensive housing.

Drove it in Tow/Haul mode while not towing. It's kinda beastly like that. Any drawbacks other than fuel economy?

    Right? Friggin BLAST OFF mode.

I used to drive my tacoma in ECT mode (pretty much the same thing from my understanding) all the time. Didn't have any issues. Was nothing compared to that V8 Haul Ass mode.

Is the intent of this mod to relocate the breather to a higher elevation to prevent liquid/water ingestion on the differential ?

Tow/haul mode while not towing is what I’d expect from a 32V 5.7L.

    It hauls!!

Check the build link in my signature.
You can’t swap housings. The hinge is captured in such a way it’s not really able to be disassembled without destroying it

6112/5160. Ranchhand rear bumper and Valhallas Shields.
Finally got around to installing Coach Builder +1 from the group buy this spring. I'm kicking myself for not installing them sooner. Drove up to the ranch and back to drop off some stuff off. It was around a 275 mile round trip, took some back roads and was impressed with the ride expressly with around 500 pounds in the bed it was such a better ride. They definitely let the 5160 do there job.

good point, although I wasn’t thinking about disassembly at the hinge point, more as an entire piece… if he popped off the mirror, electronic motor, and wiring on his current, and then removed the mirror off a manual folding SR5 version, he could reassemble with his motor, mirror glass, route wiring through the newly installed housing, and attach as a complete assembly… I had forgotten about the puddle light at the bottom which would require some fabrication (i.e. drill a hole and move the translucent lens over from the original housing). Just a guess if it were worth investigating as a significant cost savings

saw someone had listed some take-off, direct matches for a reasonable price which would be the easier/better route.
