But for real, it looks like the lines are packed full of fish roe, and I concur, that makes me think someone mixed yellow and orange coolant together. This procedure may help either way, read this GM TSB, as poorly formatted as it is. It gives some flush directions.

But before doing that, I'd start with rinsing/flushing with water at low PSI through the system, through various ports. Obviously you can't pull everything apart. There's bound to be a way to tackle this logically, given how many water drain/routing ports you've already exposed.

Once it's back together and running, then you may want to follow the above TSB procedure, with products mentioned. One of those you may already have on-hand, IIRC.

 

One project at a time. Will probably do valve covers the same day I do plugs, and ignition coils. Some are still OEM Toyota coils, some are no name aftermarket, and some are denso. Strange.

Maybe this is all cow shit, and I'm going to die a very painful, toxic, ass death. Still need to track down another connector that's broken.... more shittake

With the state of the rest of the truck I can't even imagine what kind of condition the plugs themselves are in.

If only pull a part wasn't so far away. Pretty sure Camry's and other toyotas use that connector. Hell auto parts store might even carry one you can use.

 

Hey Junior, do me a favor, just for S&G.

If you still have the content from that one hose you biopsied, take a good helping of it, like a few tablespoons worth, and stir it up with water in a mayo jar.

Just want to see if it mixes with the water, and make sure no oil solids float up to the top.

It's so yellow in color, I'm assuming someone just added the wrong coolant once, else it would look more like a dark roux (found the Cajun!) or rusty mudbutt sauce.

 

This is a great thread so far. Should be interesting to see how this thing ends up...

 

Glad to see you're getting the throttle-body cleaned up well and resolving a lot of the neglect now.

When you said the TB had that goo in it I was under the impression you meant that it was also in the air & fuel ports as well and I was thinking "How in the world...?" Haha! Then you posted the images and that cleared that mystery up.

Something to consider for the electrical connectors: apply some electrical grease inside them. This will seal them from moisture and dirt, etc., and allow much easier removal without damage in the future.

I recommend a tablet on your cell plan. It comes in handy when not around wifi. It's how I keep up with all you heathens while at work.

 

I have no idea how long it really sat, if it did at all. It came from a farm, and then sold to the guy I bought it from. Shit like this is why I rotate through my vehicles. Drive the Silver one once every two weeks.

I was coming back here to mention that. If there's oil in it, you may make an emulsion when you stir, then need to wait for separation. I'll be interested to see how this pans out. If you don't stir too vigorously, you may have a good result within an hour or two. Else you may be waiting a day. Either way, it should be really clear if it's layering, although a transparent glass jar makes it easier to see a thin oil slick than translucent tupperware.

I'm suspicious about the more rust-colored, that could suggest oil leaking into coolant, I'm sure we all know how/why and don't want to think about that possibility. Say the PO knew there was a leak and added a 'stop leak' product into either water/oil side (or both!) and it passed between the two... this is what I'd expect to see, coagulated oil in coolant. However, the yellow-colored, I just don't know ... possible incompatible coolant mixing there? Weird they were in the same line....

Clearly, you pulled oil filter and drained the oil. I take it there was no froth or condensate in the oil drain? Could be maybe comforting to know if seepage is happening oil>water or water>oil.

I gave each a light stir with a pencil. About 30 minutes since the stir on these pics below. None of my shot glasses are clear, and wouldn't be able to see through them anyways... why I used tupperware. Didn't have enough of a sample for big jar as I already threw most of the chunky out...

Finger dip on the surface tension here just feels like dirty water on both samples. Feeling pretty good about no mixing of oil/water.




New line in place from the block nipple to the oil cooler nipple once I have a new oil cooler.



Regarding the oil, I only pulled the filter. Looked, smelt, tasted, and felt like straight oil.

Also, something I forgot to mention like two weeks ago. When I pulled the transmission lines off the old radiator, the fluid that came out was bright red, and felt exactly like what I put in my V6 transmission. Will by pass the transmission warmer on the new Rad when I get ready to install unless the 4WD transmission has a different cooling loop than my A340E in the V6. (4WD is A340F?)
