Oh, gotcha. I have ZERO air compressors or anything with pressure, and the garden hose out here in the country doesn't have that much pressure.

What's your thoughts on having a shop do a power flush on the coolant system? I don't have the equipment for this, and don't have the space for an air compressor currently...

 

ask around. personally i wouldnt put it together yet and run that radiator or anything new because you'll likely clog them to the point of them not being easily reused.

you may be able to rent a gas powered air compressor though. thats a thing.

Well shit. @TundraGirl2 says they have an air compressor I can borrow, but that doesn't solve the water pressure problem, or does it?

 

the water pressure should be fine. its volume you want. the air compressor handles the pressure.

you'll want a regulator.. not a good idea putting 110 psi to the cooling system.. 20 psi is what i've used

likely. when you do it, put the old oil cooler and lines on too... dont want to plug up the new ones.

I don't have replacement for any of those hoses yet. Looks like half inch? I can scrounge some up at work unless it has to be the specific bends or it'll kink'em.

factory lines would be metric. not sure the size.

 

How hard is a heater core replacement?

I'd bet money that the lines coming up to the heater core have a pretty good film of shit in them, but are mostly clear as the bypass tube for the WP was clear. By pass tube goes directly to heater core?]

 

heater core is a nightmare.. EVERYTHING comes apart in the dash. and you'll need to remove the evap core.. which means the a/c needs to be discharged

The throttle body is full of it too? I would just remove the old one and suck it up and buy a used one.

 

That or just bypass the cooling/heating loop in the throttle body. I've heard of people doing that before.

That's an interesting possibility. Any known consequences of that mod?

 

Really just helps things heat up when it's cold. How much of an effect it really has, I'm not sure.

Kinda like the transmission fluid cooler/warmer that's built into the rad.

 

I need to sit down and schmoke a smiggerette while I upload some photos. Pulled the Throttle body, and have various other pictures for yall.

 

Started on the heater hoses by the blend valve. They're brittle, and dry rotted. Need to be replaced anyways.


Pictured below is the heater hose on the left of the blend valve. Not terrible. Still needs replacing.


Pulled the throttle body, and found another mess. Nipple is brass, and has a temp call out on it. Think it's 86°C. Think it opens like the thermostat. Cleaned it up, and will set up some boiling water for it. Pushed a small screwdriver in there, and whatever kind of spring door it has still springs back and forth so that's good. Last picture of the three is a shot of inside the TB where this mini-t-stat screws in. Gnarly, but perhaps cleanable with pressure washer.




The hose that goes into the nipple was packed full of fuckin shit. I cleaned it out, and blew through it. Usable, but will be replaced.

Took a shot of inside the intake since I had my phone out. Not nearly as bad as my V6.

 

Something shiny caught my eye in the valley below the intake plenum.




Oil? Coolant? Head gasket? Runoff from the blocked nipple? Who knows?

 

Checked the temp sensor (?) On the water inlet. Found evidence of a previous mangling. Anyone know if I can order just this connector, and then repin it?


Sensor was pretty damn clean honestly. Shocked.


Hole was clean too.


Reinstalled.

Also need a connector for the throttle body. I broke it wiggling it...

 

That connector is for ECU so most likely your issue. The one on the left of it is for the dash gauge
