I wanted to start a thread for a comprehensive list of grille choices for 1st gen Tundra.

From what I gather, 2000-2002 is different from 2003-2006 though they look the same visually. So you just increase the fab work required if your don't match up.

Since my truck is a 2002 RC, this list is focused on 2002 compatible options but I'd be happy to expand on 2003-2006 options in this same thread for others' benefit.

      4. $150-$300 price range

    3. Ivan Stewart upload_2021-9-16_11-23-54.jpg
      1. Difficult to obtain
      2. Pricey ($500+) if OEM
      3. 2003-2006 only? Or only fits 2000-2002? Conflicting opinions on this. I don’t have one to look at closely.

I'll try to add more to this thread over time. I've spent way too long doing the basic research, only to discover that I have absolutely no idea what I want to do.

I really wish the Ivan Stewart style was widely available. That look is fantastic. The custom car grills model will likely end up on the to do list at some point as it's a nice runner up.

I have seen people mod current-gen TRD pro grills on sequoias. Someone quoted me $500 to mod one on my 06 double cab.

There is a company not to far from me importing TRD pro grills for GX470 and other older models with optional Toyota and Lexus badging. I was going to reach out and ask for the manufacture's contact and pay for some R&D and possibly mass-produce them. Or see if we can run a group buys with him.

Group buy would be rad. I’m local to Torrey pines so let me see where that guy is and maybe we can pursue both options and compare?

The 03-06 grills fit with slight modification. Here is mine with an EAG grille for a 2003-2006 Tundra.

From what I've seen on here the eag/ mesh style seem to be the most popular on here, including me. I actually bought mine of someone on here( I can't remember who, and if you are the one who sold it to me I'm so sorry).tundra-g-8.jpg

    Update

Talking to someone tomorrow about 3D printing TRD pro grill for my 06 double cab. Looking to make about 10 grill total if it works out. Going to get pricing and cost. Let me know if anyone is interested and realistic budgets on what you would pay for this.

I’m interested, I stalled out and haven’t had time to even work on the one I started. Plus I’m sure this would turn out better than what I was trying to do lol

I’m interested at almost any reasonable price. But I am 2002 so slightly different shape? I’d be willing to buy a throwaway off eBay or send my grille to the guy if you can get this going.

I do not like my oem grille snd I want some spot to mount a front camera too.

    anything not chrome works great.

I tried messaging that Instagram dude with the sequoia and homemade pro grille and no reply.

I also have a 2016 tundra grille to hack up in my spare parts (free from a friend). The logo looked like it might be reusable. Way bigger than our first gen logos.

Talked to him today. I need to get one fabricated using a Tacoma grill for my truck. Starting with a finished product will allow for less R&D. Once it’s done it can be 3D scanned and replicated with a printer. Cost was quoted at about 2.5k to get all the files to mass produce the grill. I’m sure that price will double with samples and issues.

going to talk to ppl overseas once it’s scanned to see if I can get better unit pricing. This is a thing IV been wanting to do for a while and can be a solid business

I'm interested for an 06 double cab and an 01 sequoia (Same as as tundra) I'd pay up to $200 for the Sequoia one.

For the Tundra, I'm probably going with this one https://www.ebay.com/itm/284126634674

The only bad thing I’ve seen about that eag grill is they warp over time from the heat. I’ve come close to roll the dice and order one anyways.

hopefully we get this pro grill though.

@jerryallday if there is some part of value, even if it means shipping my OG grille, I'm totally game. I could buy a dirt cheap flat black aftermarket replacement for the short term. Or I could send a new aftermarket grille to your guy but I'm guessing that the OEM version might be the one to start from, provided it comes off without crumbling into a million pieces.

Happy to help the effort if there's a way for me to do so. I definitely would like to have something a bit more special and less chromey.

You know, @jerryallday, if you got someone on board to 3D print first gen grilles, another kind of easy one they might consider would be printing fender flares of some kind. I really like the modern Tacoma 3rd gen offroad black fender flare look, it’s just right, not too big, not too small, not too round, not too square. Given the price of the OEM options it seems like there could be a possible market in the $100/ea ballpark? I’m not sure that’s cost effective compared to grilles but it seems in the same league.
