This is the Satoshi precut mesh from Custom Car Grills. To me this is the next best looking grill second to the Ivan Stewart grill.

There is a video guide on YouTube from the manufacturer on how to perform this mod. It looked like a fun and challenging project. Well, the video makes it look easy. What was done in 10 minutes on the video took me over 3 days.

These are the pics I took during the project.

Now for some rotory tool action and rough sanding.

Next, trim the back edge so the hood release lever will fit. I had to trim back what appeared to be double what they cut back in the video in order to get it to fit. The trimming process got frustrating. And it's been hot out, so no pics of that. Next up is body filler and primer. PXL_20210628_205433010.jpg

My second time using the Plio Grip was frustrating. It wasn't self mixing right in the dispenser. But here we are painted and zip tied down.PXL_20210629_181231409.jpg
As noted in the video, my mesh was going to cause clearance issues. Make sure you trim what you need to off the mesh before gluing it down.

Lastly the TRD badge is from TacosForCheap on Etsy. I'm very satisfied with it.

Nice writeup and thats a damn good looking grille. Good job on that.

The horns came with the truck. They sound weird. Aren't car horns supposed to be two different pitches? I feel like these are both the same pitch.

My horns were tuned to the pitch of "1988 Corolla base - Asian market" or perhaps "mail order 50cc scooter - off road or recreational purpose only". Sad and emasculating. I replaced with one from the local parts store and it's better, anything was an improvement. I don't want train horn, I want 1995 Chevy Silverado or Ford-esque. Normal 1/2 ton truck sound.

Also, someone willing to perform this conversion and sell it to other members ala @SouthPaw headlight conversions would be doing a great service to the FGT community here.

Can't be worse than the horn in my GTI. Sounds like when you sneeze and a fart slips out.

Also, issues may arise with your hood release lever. On mine the mounting screws would not come out. They were seized in there. I ended up grinding them out, stuck new nuts in the holes and filled the voids with epoxy. Toyota has discontinued all parts for the grill hood release.

I wouldn't be opposed to trying this again for someone, but Custom Car Grills also offers the service according to the YouTube comments.

Thank you, and yes these are Hella Supertones. I just looked them up on Amazon. And the comments share my thoughts on the tone. Very high pitched.
