Got the Cali raised sliders with rhino lining on today. Their badass to say the least. Install took about 6 hours alone, mostly because I had to drill some holes to fit with valhalla sheild cat covers and the rci fuel tank skid bracket. They kicked my ass but so worth it.

Same issue with the confined space. Luckily for me, I had this stubby 3/4 wrench in the back of the toolbox. Was just able to get it to fit in there. Had to tighten in little tiny bites, so it took a while, but was able to get some oomph on it at the end to make sure everything was cinched up tight.

 

Damn, well that beats my long needle nose. I may need to pick one up to tighten the rest of it when I have a chance to.

 

If you can’t find a stubby, you can always get a cheap Harbor Freight or pawn shop one and cut it down to fit.

 

Is that the bedliner finish option from cali-raised or did you have them rhino'd after you got them? I'm torn between these and white knuckle. Cali is all 2" DOM and WKOR are 2" square + 1.75" DOM outer. So much debate out there about what's stronger or what's the better design.

I'm a cheap bastard so I got some trail gear DOM 80" sliders with kickouts. Plan is to split them mid way and add a filler piece to extend them between the wheel arches, then set a plate on the frame sides and start tacking in mounts.

The price of DOM, much less the current availability is INSANE.

Haha, will do! I have a lot of other projects rn like installing the bed rack and RTT but we'll see when I am able to do the rock sliders. Hoping sometime next month with being out of town.

 

Those Milwaukee Black Oxide bits are what you want, but you’ll need to get up to 1/2 inch. Those included unibits may get you there, but I’m not sure. With the right bits, I doubt you’ll have a need for the Jack, but it won’t hurt. Bits are key. Grab some appropriate long-sleeve work wear.

That stubby wrench should save you a lot of heartache. Let me know if you have any other questions.

 

I’m prepping to install the same sliders. I’ve read horror stories of trying to drill through the frame so I went on a mission for the best bits and found these at Home Depot rated for “hard metal”. I picked up multiples of various sizes from 1/8” to 1/2” figuring I can return them if I don’t end up needing them all.

If those don't work try some Step bits. I found black oxide to work really well with steel. Available at home depot or harbor freight. Go slow with a variable speed drill and use a drop of oil, otherwise a high speed grab will wreck your wrist fast.

You’re lifted right? If you are, the Ryobi should fit under if you have a jack. When I was using it, the Ryobi was too big so I had to use my Dewalt drill with a 5ah battery.

And yeah, I am lifted. Its just 2.5" so I might get the Ryobi since it is cheaper.

 

Plan for me is to out my truck up on jack stands and use this. if it goes according to plan, would make life a lot easier..

Haven’t purchased yet. Slider install hopefully will happen in the next couple weeks. Trying to find a decent quality, low profile, and low cost has been tricky. I’ll post up anything I may find

The bits were great, I just didn’t have that extra to get me from 3/8 to 1/2.

 

Just picked up one of these second hand. Hopefully install will go as it's planned out in my head . It's only 7.5" tall so should fit under there no problem
