Hi all, 3rd Tundra purchase, gen 1, 2, and now a new 2021

Last Tundra (2007) I traded in for a 2017 Sport Access Cab Taco, cuz it was rusting away. The rear Diff had chunks falling off and a slow leak. Once I was underneath I noticed all kinds of corrosion. Was very disappointed my servicing dealership never mentioned a word of it to me.

Anyway, after 5 years of driving my Taco I just miss the spaciousness and that power of a V8 engine and since this is the last year for the V8… I had to have it!

Although paying full Sticker Price makes me feel like a Sucker, I’m at least glad that I was offered a decent amount for the Taco.

Truck was built this week so probably 4-6 weeks before it lands. Yes of course I’m making a list of add-ons. Bigger tires but unlike most I like the stock rims and will probably keep them for awhile.

Im sure I’ll have plenty of questions for those whom have already been there, done that, and can assist me. For example I’m not sure how big of a tire I can go without a lift. I put the BFG KO2s on my Taco and love the look. Plus they are relatively quiet on the paved roads.

    Anyway, excited awaiting delivery!

Thanks! I’ll post some on day one. Can’t wait.

The pic above of my old Tundra was taken on the day I drove it to the dealership to trade it in. Amazingly it still looked Fantastic! Probably the 100+coats of wax I put on it over the ten years I had it.

But the underside was trashed. When I was looking over the underside and was getting ready to slide back out I was directly under the rear bumper. I looked up at the bumper and was thinking “what the heck…why is that so Black”. Why indeed… I was looking at the Black Rubber Step on the top side of the bumper. ALL the metal was gone. Boy it sure was a good thing I never stepped up on the bumper because my foot woulda probably went right thru it or at least crushed part of it.

Pretty sure it was rusting away due to the fact that I worked nights and it seemed every winter night going home I was following the salt trucks. Winters in New England are brutal on vehicles.

    Need some tire size help.

I don’t have plans on lifting the truck or even doing a leveling set up yet. So I’d like to get BFG KO2s that will look good but won’t rub or have to remove any mud guards.

I do plan on getting the Bushwacker Fender Flares OE Style (30917-02) which I will most likely have color matched. They come black and can be installed as is or painted.

I plan on keeping the stock alloy wheels that come with the TRD Off Road Package on the Limited Edition. I really like those rims but the stock tires not so much. Definitely want a more aggressive/beefier look.

    Stock Tires: P275/65R18

appreciate any assistance you can provide

Welcome Norma, I’m sure you’ll love your new rig and cement is an awesome color…almost as nice as white;)
275/70/18 (metric 33’s) should work just fine without any rubbing or having to make any mods. I ran that size in the Cooper XLTs and had no issues at all.

Thanks for your input. Have a pic with those tires by any chance.

I have the KO2s on my Taco and love the look plus they are actually quiet on the paved roads. Lord knows I’ve heard trucks coming just from the crazy racket coming from their tires.

No, unfortunately I don’t have any pics. I’ve gone up to 285/75/18 (35 metric). IMO, the 275/70s looked like the tire size that should come standard on our trucks. It wasn’t a huge difference but it was definitely a nicer, more appropriate look without being gaudy. I’m assuming the KO2s you want will also fit fine and look good and hopefully someone will post a pic for you with those tires in that size. In the meantime, check out the wheels and tires section of this forum and you’ll find plenty of info

2 more items on the order list for tomorrow.

    1. brushed stainless step (212-3407C)
    2. door Sill Protectors (747-34143)

Should take 2 days tops to arrive at the dealership and ready for pickup!

I’ll try to stop by the paint shop just to checkout the place then head over to a tire shop and get a price on BFG KO2s. Not sure what size, but a size that will fit without a lift.

Already got the AVS Hood Deflector and Window Deflectors (in-Channel), Tailgate “TUNDRA” Black Insert Letters, and the Blackout Layover Emblems (7) on order. Probably be here next week

The Bushwacker Fender Flares arrived today! Haven’t had a chance to open the box yet, probably Friday, just to give everything a quick once over.

Also going to order the brushed stainless steps, door sill protectors, and the remote tailgate lock Friday while I’m out running errands. (PT212-340C, PT747-34143, & PK3B6-34JSO)

Truck better arrive soon or I’ll run out of room to put all these boxes! ‍♀️

Another update: just CANCELLED my order for the AVS Hood Protector (25094)

Looked at some of the pictures here of others and I was like…hmm not really feeling the look. Looks great on past gens but with the hood bulge it just doesn’t sit right.

Well I can think it over and reorder at a later date if I change my mind. Luckily I was early enough to cancel my order!

I absolutely love it! Such a huge upgrade from the Tacoma and I have the black interior. Nothing too crazy so far but I did Tints, black badge overlays, black trd off road bed decals, paint match mirror caps, paint match front bumper caps, trd pro grille and paint match surround (on order), and a Truxedo LoPro Tonneau Cover.

Ok see if I got it, window tinting - a must on my list, blackout badge overlays, already ordered, not familiar with the black trd OR decals. I’ll remove the side bed decals as soon as I get it.

You had the mirror caps paints? Where did you get the color matched surround? Definitely NOT a fan of the chrome.

Got a pic you can post. Really like to see how it’s looking
    Thanks

I replaced the mirror caps with painted ones: https://www.ebay.com/itm/284165665726?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

I haven't gotten it all yet but purchased the grille/surround/hood bulge from Taco Vinyl. Ongoing thread here: https://www.tundras.com/threads/trd-pro-grill-taco-vinyl.90739/

I'll try and get an updated picture soon, unfortunately don't have one yet with everything mentioned.

Appreciate the info. When I take my flares in I’ll ask the paint shop how much to do the caps. If it’s less I’ll have them do it. I’m also going to ask for a price on the surround, and again if it’s less I’ll go forward. Also the chrome bumper caps/ends.

Not sure if they can paint the bumper caps in place or will I have to remove. The hood bulge and surround I can remove easily enough.

So much on the list! It’s get’n closer and closer, it will land in 2+ wks so I’m very excited.

Well that was a good afternoon, stopped by the dealership parts department and ordered (PT212-340C, PT747-34143, & PK3B6-34JSO) and the Parts Manager price matched the lowest price I was able to find!

He told me the parts will be in anytime after 9am tomorrow. I was like What…Dang that’s fast. He said they had all 3 in the warehouse so it was no problem.

The pile of goodies is get’n bigger and bigger!

    Good news and BAD News…

Good News: Pickup 2 of the ordered parts

Bad News: The Brushed Stainless Steel Steps are All on HOLD by Toyota. Not sure if it’s just the New England area or nation wide. On HOLD because of extremely low inventory. So not sure how long this hold will last…could be days/weeks or months.

What part number are they? 212-3407C is for the Double Cab. I think the Crew Cab is a different number. Probably the step is a little longer.

Do you know what the part number?

Never mind I see you have the same as mine.

Update: Toyota released a set of the Brushed Stainless Steel Steps and I’ll probably stop by the dealership to today to pick them up! (PT212-3407C)

Very happy I was able to get these and can’t wait to do the install… along with all the other stuff piling up.
Plus I’ll try to get an update on the “in transit” status. I’ll let the sales guy know I want to keep all the paperwork/documents when it arrives like the Build Sheet. So hopefully it doesn’t get thrown out.

Less than 2 weeks on the ETA.
