    WARNING: lengthy post

    About: mini projector LED’s.

Quick backstory I’ve long been hunting for the brightest light I could get outta stock housings, but with a solid, clean cutoff, without doin the whole retrofit. I’ve tried an HID kit, several different LEDs (all bright but everywhere), and a handful of high watt halogens. Looking back at the time and money I spent, retrofit was probably the way to go. Oh well. I was actually pretty happy with the last set of halogens, Sylvania ZXR’s I believe, but they were like $65. Then I came across these.
    B393C00A-6BFD-496E-9C94-4D8C6F8E3734.jpg
you can see how clean the cutoff is and they’re super bright. Low beam gets cut then goes thru the lens. High beam floods from stock housing reflector, also low stays on with high. Great lights but there are two cons I will share for anyone interested in these. 1- you have to remove the internal shield/reflector cap thingy from inside the housing, it’s just two little screws and yank it out with pliers. Not hard to do but once it’s done there’s no turning back to regular bulbs. 2- at the cutoff, there is a purple edge separating light from dark. If you zoom in on the pic where it says “real shot” you can kinda see it. It’s not obvious there, but when you’re driving, you see flashes of purple from anything reflective that’s above the cutoff line, which is just traffic signs and street signs really. The ad doesn’t mention it, nor did any of the reviews I read before buying them. They would be pretty much flawless otherwise, so I dissected one to see if it were possible to get rid of it. Unfortunately, it is within the polycarbonate lens itself. Stuck fukt. I’m not sure if other brands are the same, but it’s definitely something you want to look out for before buying. And if anyone knows or finds better, please share. Didn’t mean to make such a long post, but a wise man once said “if you can be anything, be efficient.”

Honestly, I heard something from supervisor last night that he'd heard. If it's true, I might just be on days soon, or in Knoxville.

Why do you all need me here on days?

Can you grab a photo of the cutoff line on your setup? I had a slight hue even on my retrofits (for my old Tacoma) but it certainly wasn't something that caused issue or obstruction of view.

Here’s mine with the exact same setup. It should be noted that I have done some adjusting since then.

Pretty wild that it has such a defined cutoff for not being a true retrofit. Thank you for the photo.

This is my first foray into projectors but from my understanding, they are just mini projectors, scaled down to fit on an H4 chassis. I have zero complaints so far other than now I need to color match my fogs.

@RUSTYNUTS these didn't mess with your fog lights at all? I did just order a set so now I'll have an excuse to wet sand and clear coat the "hazy eye"

Raben Tar had the truck about an hour for rotation, and alignment. Feels like everything is about right. I'll never understand what really is right with these as I'm lifted, and don't get alignments enough.

I did have to mod the foglight circuit with the first set of LED's that i installed, but it was just a simple jumper wire on the back of the switch. (button on dash, not on steering column) I ended up using my foglight circuit to power my lightbar, but that's irrelevant. Also, I tried alot of wet-sanding, buffing, polishing, clear-coating, and all that, and I was unable to get em crystal clear to where I was satisfied. Bought new housings for $110. well worth it to me

I don't believe so. My understanding is that the mini projectors have an actual lens that 100% of the low beam passes thru, so 0% of it is reflected from the housing. That's how they're able to achieve such a clean cutoff. Also, those morimotos are for fogs, even tho they are H4's they don't have hi/lo beam.

I remember you talking about this before, but what exactly is to gain? I know airaid still makes a full cold air intake kit, but you want just the pipe?

Yeah, it’s not ideal. Don’t really like the attention it brings honestly. But not really worth spending the $$ to try another brand.

Smoother air intake “should” make a wee bit more power.

but to be honest I just want the noise and cleaner looking engine bay by getting rid of the bug resonator on the intake. I run the MIT in the Tacoma and like it
