New member here - silly aesthetic question for my tundra

So I’m looking to get some of the tailgate lettering inserts. I have a limited crew max that is brown (smoked mesquite). What color of insert do y’all suggest? Not sure if black or chrome would work here. Maybe there’s something else out there I’m not aware of. Appreciate it I’m advance.

also… I’m looking to get some running boards as well but too am not sure what would be best against the brown color while not sacrificing too much clearance. Any / all suggestions appreciated.

 

Welcome from SoCal. Post some pics. Chrome is like holy water on demons in this forum . The letters do come in some other colors, or you can always paint them a custom color. Try and make it match your theme. Your wheels black? Bronze?

so you think the matte black even on top of the brown?

 

I’d say black is really the only color that would look good on brown, but that’s just my opinion. Even then, there’s options. Gloss / matte, raised / flush.

Whatever you like man. I went with the matte black factory Toyota inserts on mine. Chrome looks good with the brown too though.

 

Does your bumper have the chrome on it or is that brown too? It’s hard to tell from the pic.

It’s all black and brown. Don’t think any of the smoked mesquite trucks have chrome rear bumpers. They’re all Platinums and 1794s with BSM which requires color keyed end caps.

I think the mesquite is one of the only colors that looks really good with chrome. I had a big chrome cattle guard on my 1794 and it looked nice (until a minivan ran a red light and pulled out in front of me). If you ignore the damage, it looks really nice on it.

 

I think you should do blaaaccckk on the brown. Can’t go wrong with blaaaaaccccckk.

 

Black tundra owner here - I went with red. Idea was to have a little matching with red tow hooks and (eventually) red TRD sway bar

Don’t have a picture of the tow hooks, but not hard to imagine.

Just my take on it!

 

That looks sick. I'm not sure how the red would look against the brown though

 

Mine is a little more custom then a solid color but I have a 2019 smoked mesquite

 

thanks! Not sure if I actually like it to be honest haha. Came from a MGM Tacoma with Black everything. This is the most color I’ve ever had on a vehicle. Might be more than I like haha.

Love this look. Thought about going this route but couldn’t find one that protruded out like the one I have.

I do think color matched protruded is another good look.

I like the mesquite with black, red and american flag (black/white and r/w/b). I know it's not the same but cement with black/white american flag here on my crewmax.
