Hey everybody, I’m new and looking fo advice for my 2006 access cab

I would say remove the front swaybar either way. I know some people like the extended links, but my coils are stiff enough that I feel very stable on-road and through tight turns and it doesn't limit my travel at all. When my friend and I go offroad and he stops to disconnect his swaybar I usually give him a big sigh and ask, "how long are we gonna be here?" But I give him a hard time cuz he's in a jeep.

 

I need to remove mine so over the full effect of the King's. Plus I think with the 700lb coils I should be fine without it.

I'll update you when my body lift goes on if you're still after 4 inch lift. It's a custom order and hasn't shipped yet. So just to clarify my set up will soon be what I have now plus 1 inch body, so that's 3 inch King extended travel (aka mid travel) coilovers, SPC upper control arms, and wheelers off road superbumps bump stops in front. Rear is stock leaf pack (with overload leaf removed for more flex) for now with wheelers progressive 3 leaf add a leaf and superbumps, and Bilstein 5160 shocks with resevoirs. Eventually I'll buy a custom leaf pack. Good luck!

 

Yes sir, let me know how it goes. I’d like to get to the 4” mark, if I can. And I know where y’all are about to go with that, lol. Not in that area, lol. I like the ride height and I’ll be able to get a good ride out of it. Thanks for all info and I’m glad I’m on this forum.

 

Btw the ride with a decent set of coilovers is nice, but remember to figure out what spring rating you want on the coil springs. 650lb coils are fine for a truck with no armor or winch (steel bumpers, sliders, skid plates), but if you plan on buying those things and off roading, you'll want 700lb coils. If you don't off road it then the 650lb coils are still nice for an armored truck that stays on pavement. Also don't neglect the rear suspension. That's really going to effect the smoothness of the ride and also will depend on how much weight you carry in the back.

 

I’m glad you cleared that up. I’ve been seeing 650’s or 700’s mentioned on here and wondered what was the best route to go for me. I’m not gonna be doing any hardcore off-roading. I’m looking very hard into UCA’s and coil overs in front. For the rear I’ll do new springs. Looking for a really good stance. Can’t get too serious with this truck. It’s my daily driver

 

Just got my suspension installed yesterday. Took 13 weeks to get all the parts in. Went with Toytec’s recommendation of Elka 2.5 in (diameter) shocks, SPC UCAs, and Deaver leafs. It’s likely the nicest suspension you can get for these and quite spendy as well. Guys who installed it were very impressed with how it all came together. So far the ride feels amazing! I got about 2” in front and 1” in back. Wheels and tires are up next.

 

So I’m sorting this one out too and looking at Fox 2.5 coil overs front and rear. Planning sliders and maybe front and rear steel bumper. I have a shell and hopefully slamming in a group 31 battery. Otherwise the truck is pretty light.

Looking for all around tow / haul / novice offroad. Stock 16” alloys for now, tires in decent condition so unless I swap to the Taco I’ll try to run them down a bit.

I’m thinking new leaf pack since the truck is old and has seen some use. Any suggestions anyone? Something else I’m not thinking of which I need as well? All the Fox stuff is a long wait so I have lots of time.

I have had a chance to run some rugged roads here in Montana and am very happy with the suspension. Very smooth on washboards and ruts. Excited to upgrade my wheels (after financial recovery). These pics show the SPC arms, Elka coilovers, Deaver leafs.

 

Looks great! Might want to cut down the excess on those u-bolts to avoid bending them on the rocks.

 

I installed the ATS heavy duty leaf pack and was super happy with it. Got about 1.5 lift and the ride is so much better than the old worn out leafs.
