Driver Door won't open from outside or inside

It really does !! That's my 72 chevelle that I had forever now .thank you !

 

I was gonna guess early 70s El Camino, I wasn't too far off. Thats a nice one!

 

With the door panel off I have the door latch & motor assembly down to about a 5 minute removal time. That is after removing and replacing a half dozen times. Removed unit & replaced the motor, that didn't work. Removed again & installed a 090" shim in pivot of the loose arm. Removed again and bent the arm. Removed again and added a little more bend to the arm. Removed again and replaced the old motor. Removed again, awaiting parts. After each mod the lock worked as it is supposed to ON the bench. In the truck I always got the middle finger. SO, now it was time to order the entire assembly. After about a dozen calls I finally located an assembly at http://toyotaparts.mcgeorgetoyota.com for $266.14 plus shipped. I have a 2000 Toyota Tundra SR 5 and the driver door Lock Assembly P/N: 690400C010 is what I ordered. They had 4 in stock on 08/03/2021. Their site says the part is *** On National Back Order***. So, now I have a new spare L/H door lock actuator P/N: 691200C010. Paid $105.14 plus shipping. I would take $70.00 shipped in the U.S.

 

Did the door lock assembly 690400C010 work out for you? I’m in the process of ordering one for my father in law’s 2002 Tundra access cab and just wanted to be sure I’m getting the right part. Thanks

 

According to McGeorge, that number fits 02-06 Tundras. I would still verify by inputing your VIN#, especially if you choose McGeorge. They will let you know if it fits.

After installing the door lock assembly, P/N 690400C010 on the driver side door of my 2000 Toyota Tundra Access Cab the door now works as it should. There is none of the problem of the door being very difficult to open. The assembly, P/N 690400C010, comes with the electric motor attached to the latch assembly. Without the lock motor, a different P/N, the latch is about $100.00 + dollars less. The motor in the assembly I was removing would attempt to unlock the door. But I didn't know if it was a bad motor or the latch so I ordered the assembly with the motor.
As Bubba W suggested, add the VIN # to make sure you are getting the correct part. https://toyotaparts.mcgeorgetoyota.com McGeorge Toyota had the most economical price and they had the part in stock. My local dealer wanted over $400.00 for the part and they did not have it in stock.

 

Thanks for the information. I entered my VIN and verified that is the correct part number. I ordered through SparksParts then received an email afterwards saying it was on back order and is expected to ship in 14-21 days.

 

You may want to contact https://toyotaparts.mcgeorgetoyota.com to see if they have the part in stock. If they have the part in stock you will have it installed before you get it from Sparks Parts. They should void the parts charge. AS I recall I had to look around for the availability of the part. This Covid crap sucks.
