Thanks. I saw I can return it if it doesn't work so hopefully I'll be a little closer to ditching the chrome on the truck.

I decided to dump a few grand into this truck instead of buying a new truck. I'll take the new truck money and buy a boat next year. :D

If you want to recoup a couple of bucks on the two chrome plates over your grille insert (don't need the bumper one), give me a shout.

I'll let you know. I thought those had plastic welds holding them in place? I was going to wrap those unless I can find some color matched ones on ebay.

Checked live data after running hard on the interstate for about 30 minutes keeping up with traffic.

Finally, a break in traffic with open road for 3 miles let me check temps.
    Screenshot_20210804-170432_HT200.jpg
Coolant is where it was before flushies. Bummer. Might be T-stat. Might be original. Might have been replaced. I can't say for certain.

AT temp is considerably lower than where it was before. It used to spike up into the 200-210° range at these speeds, and ambient temps. Constantly hovered in the 190 range. Highest I've seen so far is 175° under heavy load.

@Cummins3500 had to do it recently and may be able to provide more info. Looks like there's a bunch of slits across the plastic base part, and maybe a plastic something-or-other with T-shaped tabs glued to the back of the metal trim piece, that T-shaped tab is what goes in the base plastic grille slits, and it's a mf PITA to get them off? And the metal trim + plastic combo is also adhesive/taped to the plastic base grille?

Doesn't sound like fun. I may go back to looking on fleabay for a part. Just didn't like the $200-300 shipped prices I was seeing for a white chromed-accented grille before shipping, and most of them had cracks and/or chips galore.

Well I bought a Slyfox SAIS bypass kit off eBay for about $60 after shipping, no plates. Much cheaper than the Hewette kit that I believe was closer to $200. Now I'm partially invested in my quest for long tubes and DDI exhaust. I'm thinking by early 2022 it'll happen. I just hope @dirtydeeds runs a sale soon or something. If Keith can make me a deal I might buy for Black Friday or sooner.

Still no word on when my 4crawler custom 1 inch body lift kit will ship. Hopefully Roger has at least started on it though. 2022 is going to be a big nod year for the Tundra if everything goes to plan. Exhaust, BL, 35s, 17s big brakes, gears and a locker are all on the table.

I would give you my grille but it looks like it got dechromed at some point. Not sure if it was painted or something. Haven’t looked at it much yet. Definitely needs a replacement.

actually maybe it never had chrome everywhere. Can’t remember.

What coolant temps is everyone getting.

Just took a road trip to go camping 800 miles round trip, so I bought a scan gauge to read live data.

I was reading about 197-8 average and 202 degrees was the hottest it got going up some heavy Hill climbs. It was 101 degrees outside. Currently at 168k with 2.5 lift, on ko2 33’s 17’s and camper shell, loaded with 4 people and about 500 lbs of gear with the ac on second setting.

Average speed was 75 mph and I took it easy on the hill climbs going about 50-55mph.

Still on the original radiator. Fan clutch feels solid when I try and freely spin it. Changed the thermostat (auto zone brand, should have went oem) and did a coolant flush about 6k miles ago.

Everything felt healthy but wanted to see others. Saw a post about @empty_lord reading 184 degrees while towing on a 100 degree day with a new radiator.

@Darkness showed similar temps on a previous post ranging from 195-200 on 100 degree day.

Yes. A very expensive custom radiator at that. One that works very well apparently.

@Kimosabe @shifty`, the front emblem just slides in and locks in place with plastic tabs just like the v8 emblem block. The front chrome pieces, just have the tabs that slide in and are then held in place by glue or 3m tape. That chrome piece that’s on the bumper though had some weird white piece on the backside that it slid into and locked. I broke the first couple till I figured out what was going on. I think mine will be glued on from here on since they’ll be easier to remove I ever need to touch them up

I don't think I've ever hit 212, even when pushing my truck hard at the sand dunes last year. Replacing the T stat is very easy on the V8. I would assume it is for you too..? How old is the radiator?

I just ordered a new Hitachi MAF sensor off Big Gurrl. The ghost of PHM lives on through his Amazon reviews as "Heather". I've found his reviews on other items he plugged too.

Yeah I wasn't joking. That's 100% him. He basically wrote all the same things here over and over and uses the same words here as there. I recall him saying new 02 sensors made his truck torquier. The timing matches up too. I assume Heather is his wife.
