It's always either on or blinking. Tire air pressures are all good as well as the spare. Why?

Dead batteries in the sensors.... Wait for my tires to wear out so I can replace mine. I put a tiny piece of black tape over the light cause it drives me crazy!

First generation Tundras were the “Toyota Trial TPMS Sensor System” so to speak

They are Plagued with issues. Most people don’t even spend The $$$ fighting with it. You can only have 1 set of sensors programmed at a time.

On 1st gens, you have to go to the dealer and have them go into the ECM to delete all the sensors and program the sensors back in. Our computer does not have the ability to “relearn” new sensors. Tire Shops with their “relearn/re scan tool” cannot help you. It’s an ECM issue.

It’s a complete pain and useless feature anyways. In my opinion a TPMS system should at lea set be able to tell you which specific tire has issues.

There is a way to ground out a wire on the TPMS computer harness and make the light permanently stay off.

Here is a photo Album Pics and the process to permanently disable the light

Thanks for the information and pictures! A couple of questions please... does another white plastic connector (like a male or female) plug back into the one shown in your pictures when you are done splicing? If not, could I connect the pin corresponding to the pink and silver wire to ground and accomplish the same thing without splicing?

I just did this mod about a month or so ago. After you cut the pink and silver wire you can just connect the wire directly to the pictured ground screw with another piece of wire. The portion of the pink and silver wire coming off the white plug can be left like that. I did exactly like the pictures and I added some spade quick connects so that I could re-enable the TPMS system easily. Hope this helps.

So basically the only wire you ground is the one that’s on the plug?

I edited this post to include a picture. After you cut the pink/silver wire you will connect the part coming from the wiring harness side to the ground screw. The other section of pink/silver wire that comes off the white plug can be left alone. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info here. I was just thinking about this topic as I plan new wheels for my 2002. I happen to have a tactrix and techstream so I’ll see if I’m able to connect and view and possibly change. Might be tricky to find proper sensors though? Since they are the old design?

Was TPMS an option in 02?

Well, shoot, I was assuming based on @empty_lord but is that maybe one of those differences between '02 and '05?
