It was April 2019 I think for the 40th anniversary of TRD. I haven’t seen any sales like it since.

Hellwig only makes a rear for our trucks but I like it better than the TRD rear. Beefier and not red.

Looks like it is available from various dealers or others on ebay. I'm not sure how the cost compares vs the Hellwig, but I would buy whichever is least expensive. Hellwig makes good sway bars.

My '19 came with the TRD one from the factory, and it's the first truck I've had with the rear sway bar. It makes a difference on the road and in curves.

So is there a con to the rear sway bar? Typically most things have trade-offs. If I'm almost entirely just driving roads, is there a con to the rear sway bar?

No cons if you are driving roads, gravel, light trails.

The cons come when you want to do serious off roading.

There is a slight trade off in the suppleness department. It definitely rides firmer but it will NEVER be taken off my truck while I own it. The benefits far out ways the minimal loss in suppleness. I don’t go off-road. For reference I have a DC with the TRD Offroad package, everything is stock…

Yeah, I've never been into the serious offroad, testing the limits type stuff. When I was younger we took trucks into some places most wouldn't, around the farm and on old abandoned roads in bad shape, strip mines, etc.. But I don't do that anymore. Generally if I need to haul something around the property, I'll use a trailer behind a tractor. If I want to go work on the big deer stand on the strip mines, I'll take the quad. Trucks are just too expensive to take into those places for me these days.

I'm new to the tundra this year, 500 miles on a 21 nightshade. I'm sort of disappointed in the truck. I dont know if I'm new to leather seats or what. Was hoping the sway bars would help me from sliding around in my seat when turning. Even slow turning makes me shift.

I don’t have leather in my Tundra but my wife has it in the Highlander. I do slide around a little more in her car than I do in my cloth seat Tundra and RAV4. Not a fan in all honesty and I detest it in the hot weather. It’s not the Tundra’s fault in my opinion but the characteristics of leather…

As information, the rear sway bar will contact the rear leaf spring when close to full articulation on one side:

Front and rear installed, holy crap what a difference! So glad I put them in, very easy to install as well.

Mine is Limited TRD off-road which doesn't come with rear sway bar from the factory.
Even without rear sway bar, it feels much more stable than my Tacoma and corners real nice ... but I don't drive it like a sports car either.

Yeah, I bought a rear sway bar, might install it this weekend if I get a chance. I keep reading how it makes a huge difference, but I have to wonder if with my driving style maybe it won't. I tend to be pretty restrained when driving my truck; I take corners pretty slow. I do notice a little body roll, but it's probably a lot less pronounced than what many experience.

I only did rear trd sway bar. I have been considering front sway bar but have not been convinced that it was going to make a big difference like the rear sway bar has6F60C564-1F23-433C-80B5-17FEFD3F78C2.jpg

In all honesty I drive my truck the same way. I am in no rush to get anywhere. However on the long road trips and on the long sweeping ramps (interchanges on the highway) it makes a noticeable difference. I don’t notice it much when turning into a parking lot because I go fairly slow. Even in your scenario IMHO it will make a big difference unless you only do city/stop and go traffic…

Installed the RSB today. Install went well; took just over an hour. One area where I'm questioning if I screwed up... I assembled everything with all the bolts loose first, got the RSB centered, etc.. But then I did tighten the U-bolts some prior to torqueing the end links. Torqueing the U-bolts meant tightening them a lot more, but I probably had them tight enough that they weren't going to be able to move. Thinking I probably should have tightened and torqued the end links before tightening those U-bolts at all. But, it probably doesn't matter.

Did some substantial driving after the install. Despite my conservative driving style, I do notice a different for sure. Feels a fair bit different during turns.

    @PA452

    Thanks for the report.

Curious how it feels with the load or any improvements when towing? I'm thinking for the average driver, you get the real benefits with a heavy load and driving in the fast lane and kind of missing your exit. :D

    What are the torque numbers?
Did you order the hardware separately or did it come with the sway bar?

I have a stiffer off-road suspension and have this at the bottom of my mod list but I may move it up if it helps while towing ...

I'm going to be curious about a difference in towing as well. I think I would expect less effect when towing, but I don't know.

The hardware all comes with it. Torque numbers are in the instructions they provide with the kit as well. I don't have them with me right now; I remember the U-bolt nuts and lower ends of the links were 48 ft-lbs. The upper ends of the links I forget, I want to say they were supposed to be 84 ft-lbs, but I can't remember for sure. Bottom line, have a torque wrench that at least goes up to 100 ft-lbs.

ETA: This project actually led me to get some decent torque wrenches too. :)
