I noticed this while checking fluid levels this evening. It appears that coolant has been seeping out around this fitting. What would be the best way to seal this? Is there a gasket p/n somewhere?

not even sure what it would be called.

right in front and under the black plastic cover over the intake tube. Right behind the serpentine belt. I believe it is the coolant return fitting.

Thanks. I thought the water pump was down lower than that.

would this just be removing that and replacing the gasket?

Yeah. Was thinking WP was lower, too. I think that leak is on the Thermostat housing to block assy. Might need a new gasket or buy some Toyota Green FIPG for Coolant and make your own ($33 on fleebai).

looks like it’s coming from between the us manifold and what I assume is the water pump.

Hard to tell. My years ago WP leak seemed lower than that as there is a manufactured slot for the leaky coolant on the bottom of the Assy for such purpose.

You’ll need to start pulling shtuff off and fix it whatever its coming from. :annoyed:

I do t think so, it sits more at a 45’ angle rather than parallel with the face of the engine

Yeah. This is the only diagram they provided. Ours is more 45° and rectangle shaped, but same principle.

Here is from another site. Do your own research before buying parts etc.

    Update

that is your thermostat housing, it the part right after the the thermostat that meets up to the water pump. Below are some photos of when I had mine off. You can see the orange gasket

Thanks for the info fellas. I’ll get parts and really want to get this done before our big road trip in 2 weeks time. Doesn’t look like it will be too terrible to get off.

Remove t-stay housing with 2 bolts. Clean old gasket off throughly, put new FIPG on, tighten, let cure for 20minutes to an hour, add coolant, bleed and likely be leak free. Someone probably did a rush job

Not pictures but you might want to buy a new o-ring to where it connects to the bypass. My o-ring was shot.

This should be the part number - 96761-35035. Double check

I used Permatex gasket maker when I did mine. My truck hasn't exploded or pissed all of it's coolant out. Yet.

Thanks for the help. I ended up trying threebond 1186? Sold as Honda/yamabond 4.

it was like water coming out of the tube, not at all what I was expecting and the next day the leak was worse.

I then bought permatex the right stuff. Now it’s been two days and no leaks.
