a black painted flat washer, some peel and stick felt padding for the back of it, a long skinny bolt, and a washer and wing nut on the back side of the wheel will stop.. deter that theft.

When I had a spacer lift, I installed the fronts in two hours. Threw my back out loosening the alignment bolts. I vowed never to work on suspension again. But there are plenty of people with bigger muscles that get it done just fine. Shouldn’t take longer than half a day. Saving $400 is a good excuse I’d use to get yourself a new jack.

Can't wait until I can do this without gas spitting back up and all over my truck .. I have to manually put small amounts in, then stop when hearing gas backing up, then proceed slowly again. ugggg !!

Yup, what Chelly said, but agree should be on the Pro as well.

I suspect I will need a new 38g tank like that.

    Yup.

Nice .. will have to look into doing the outside handles ... thought they were a hard install like the mirror caps are supposedly ?? ..btw do you think painting over existing chrome mirror caps with a flat black would look decent and match the black handles ? Thanks

OK. Regarding your gas spitting up comment. I had that happen to me the last fill up. No top off done, but as soon as the gas pump shutoff, the gas started gurgling up and spilling out of the tank. I haven't had that happen before on this truck or my previous Tundra. Is this common?

Getting ready for the weekend install. Had a can of undercoating and engine black. I know you can't see them but couldn't live with myself knowing I didn't paint the wood. Have a good evening guys

Exterior handles are silly easy. I went to look up the video before bed just to see what I was in for and ended up going outside and just doing them. Took 5 minutes. I've heard (and been told by shops) painting over chrome does not turn out well. Shops in my town wouldn't touch anything chrome which is why I've spent my life savings purchasing new instead of trying to paint.

Thanks, I wish it was glossier but it was also only $100 and easily removable should you/I decide for something else until new wheel time. As for tips.. I have a couple haha

-Give yourself more time than you think you'll need, I probably didn't wait long enough between coats (gave about 20 mins between, 5-6 coats a wheel). Started cleaning them at 130 pm and didn't start painting until 345ish. Finished at about 6 then left to rest for a few hrs.
-make sure the rims are really clean, prep is important
-1 can black per wheel, use the whole can
-put the cans in warm water for 10-15 mins before you start, it comes out smoother
-I used armor all on the tires to keep the dip from sticking, it didn't really make a difference on the outer overspray part. Maybe it wasn't a slick enough compound. It will pressure wash off easily next wash though
-I just left the wheels on, apparently the stuff doesn't like to spray nice at a horizontal angle if you were to pull the rims and lay them down. So I just left them on, pulled the center caps and popped out the emblems. Removed the valve stem caps and taped the stem(so the dip isn't a one piece layer on the stem/cap). Tape the nuts, covered the brakes /everything behind the wheel face with 1 large garbage bag each fished through the rim. I was skeptical at the ghetto-ness but it worked perfect

I think there's another brand/offbrand called hyper dip that has some different finishes that are supposedly more glossy. I am forever skeptical of spraybombs that claim they are glossy though after spray painting my emblems in highschool. What was supposed to be gold was in fact Dijon mustard and I didn't even put the emblems back on lol. It just rained here for two days after I painted them, so I will wash my truck tomorrow and see how they clean up

Did not do any pics of the lights. Added headlight Revolution reverse lights in my 21 tundra pro yesterday. Man what a difference. I did the same to my 2020 4runner Pro. But both vehicles are terrible lighting when backing up. These headlight Revolution reverse lights are even more impressive. Yes a little pricy but you get what you pay for.

Had 4 new 295/70/18 Nitto terra grappler G2 installed yesterday. I did not get the E load or LT spec tires. I do not tow anything heavy nor do I have more then 500 or so pounds in the bed. These tires replaced Lt 285/70/18 ridge grapplers.

Being they are just shy of a 10 pound difference between the two tires, what a major difference in ride quality. Much smother, soaks the bumps up better being it is a softer tire. Haven’t had them in the woods yet, so no opinion there. It completely changed the way the truck fills, it’s crazy what 40 less pounds can do for handling.

I posted my old tires in market place if anyone is interested.

Which bumper caps are you going with?

I saw these on Sparks and I am planning to give them a try in a couple months. My bumpers are wrapped at the moment, but it's started to fade and the rear has a couple tears in the vinyl.

I went with the paintables from Sparks (they didn't carry 4x4 in stock)

    PKTUNFR
3rd Gen Tundra Front Paintable Bumper End Caps Color: 4X4 - Smoked Mesquite; Sensor Holes: WS - With Sensor Holes
    $518.62

As I was receiving those, someone wrote that they had a chrome shop strip the chrome from the steel on the existing ends and then had them painted. Thinking critically about it from any angle, I can't come up with a better solution than that. If you can get that done anywhere close to the cost of the Sparks caps, paint the ones you have.

The gifts keep coming from my most recent oil change experience at the local dealer...

I was washing my Tundra yesterday and noticed the front bumper was loose. Ofcourse, they didn't put the screws back in that attach the front bumper to the skid plate and the frame. This is the same dealership that told me they'd rotated the tires but it turned out they didn't.

Just another reason to do most/all service yourself!

Yeah it’s just not worth the headache. It’s a shame to say and if you call them they will tell you to bring it in and they will fix it. So then you have to take time out of your day for something that should have done right the first time. Sorry for my rant, you hit a nerve with me in this. I have fought this battle to many times that I won’t go back to dealership because of it.

I went with 5500 pure white. Very natural looking, I've gone cooler before around 6k and while the blue' ish tint looks cool as an accent I find it to be a less "useful" light.

So, funny story: I went through your diagrams, tracked down all the possible fuses/relays that might be trouble, but couldn't identify anything out of the ordinary. Finally I made an appt last Friday to take it in to my local Toyota dealership to see whether they could help. They had it for about an hour and called me back into the service department to discuss. The service guy told me the techs found 15 (!) blown fuses in the truck, and every time they tried to put new ones in, those would blow too. He said they couldn't spend any more time on it that day because of all the people who had booked ahead of me, so could I bring it on Tuesday to leave it with them for a full day of diagnostics. I agreed and set up the next appt.

When I got home and tried to fold the mirrors to pull the truck into the garage (we have a narrow tandem), they didn't fold. The dealer's techs hadn't replaced the fuse tap that powers the mirror folding. So I decided to replace both the fuses in the tap with fresh ones, just in case, then stuck it back into the ECU/ACC socket. I started the truck, put it in reverse, then looked for the backup display out of habit—and it was working. It had been one or both of those fuses in the tap the whole time! I know that I checked those fuses, but I heard that it's sometimes hard to visually tell whether those low profile fuses are blown, and I believe it now! So problem solved.

And I hope those dealer technicians had a fun hour writing science fiction about my truck! :D
